Details: England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bat first in the 3rd and final game against Team India at Lord’s, London. Three changes for India and KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav are playing in the place of Shivam Dube, Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar. For England, Josh Tongue is playing in the place of Saqib Mahmood.

England scored huge 387/3 in their 50 overs after batting first. They have produced a commanding batting performance in the series decider after Harry Brook’s decision to bat first paid dividends. Duckett and Bethell made the most of an erratic new-ball spell from India, cashing in on anything loose to lay a superb platform. Once they settled, there was no looking back as India’s bowlers struggled for control. Bethell was the first to bring up his fifty before falling agonizingly short of a ODI hundred, dismissed for 91. Duckett, meanwhile, carried on relentlessly, raising his fourth ODI century and going on to register the highest individual score at Lord’s before being dismissed for a magnificent 141. Root (74* off 48) continued his remarkable consistency in the format with yet another half-century – his sixth in as many ODI innings – and provided the perfect finish along with Buttler (41* off 13). The pair smashed 62 runs off the last three overs and have taken England to a daunting 387.India, missing Bumrah and fielding only five frontline bowlers, endured a difficult day in the field and never managed to wrest any control after the opening stand. They now face the daunting task of chasing 387 on a surface that has enough assistance for the seamers, while history is also firmly against them, with each of the last five ODIs at Lord’s having been won by the team batting first. It will take something special from India’s batting line-up to win the series. Ben Duckett scored 141 runs of 135 balls and Jacob Bethell scored 91 runs in 93 balls. For Team India, Prasidh Krishna picked 2 wickets for 69 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Team India unable to chase the target and scored 360/7 in 50 overs and lost the game by 27 runs and series by 1-2. They India fought hard but fell 27 runs short as England sealed the series with a well-earned victory. Two phases proved decisive in the contest: England’s explosive finish with the bat, plundering 82 runs from the final 5 overs, and Jacob Bethell’s outstanding spell after the 30th over, where he conceded just 49 runs in seven overs while claiming the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma. India’s chase began on a solid note, with Rohit and Gill matching England’s opening stand by laying the foundation. The pair added 147 for the first wicket, with Gill making a fluent 77 before departing. Rohit, meanwhile, answered his critics in emphatic fashion, bringing up a magnificent century and forging another 100+ stand with Kohli to keep India firmly in the hunt as they matched the required rate for much of the chase. The turning point came when Bethell dismissed Rohit for a superb 138, breaking a partnership that had threatened to take the game away from England. From there, Bethell and Curran applied the brakes brilliantly, varying their pace and bowling with impressive discipline to choke India’s scoring. Kohli remained India’s last realistic hope, but Curran eventually got the prized wicket, effectively ending the contest and sealing the series for England. Rohit Sharma scored 138 runs of 110 balls and Skipper Shubman Gill score 53 runs of 25 balls. For England, Sam Curran picked 4 wickets for 75 runs in his 10 overs quota.
