Silence 2 Review: Ordinary murder mystery thriller mainly due to length and poor climax
Silence 2 Movie Rating: 2 Stars

Watched Silence 2 movie on Zee5. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Manoj Bajpayee, Prachi Desai, Vaquar Shaikh, Sahil Vaid, Parul Gulati and Dinker Sharma
Director: Aban Bharucha Deohans
Release Date: 16th April 2024 on Zee5

Story: It is the second outing in the Silence series with ACP Avinash Verma (Manoj Bajpayee) at the helm of mysteries. After the events of the last film, the unit has expanded though there’s pressure on Commissioner Mayank Sharma (Manuj Bhaskar) to shut it down. One night, a deadly shootout takes place at Night Owl Bar where several people are killed. Avinash is asked to head the cast as the PA of a minister also dies in the shootout.

He’s joined by Sanjana Bhatia (Prachi Desai), Amit Chauhan (Sahil Vaid), Raj Gupta (Vaquar Shaikh). They begin the investigation assuming that the shootout took place to eliminate the PA. But they soon realize that a girl presents at the bar, Azma Khan (Surbhi Rohra) is the reason why the killings happened.

She was present at the bar with her friend Irrfan and both were eliminated. As they investigate, the unit realizes that Azma was an escort. Meanwhile, the dead body of a girl named Tara Sachdev is found in Jaipur. Avinash realizes that there’s a connection between the two murders. But it’s not easy to zero in on a suspect as there are too many players involved, all with their own motives. Watch this movie to know who murderer and motive behind shootouts is.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in my free time as trailer looks goods and liked the 1st part and also big fan of Manoj Bajpayee movies.

After a shoot-out at a night club in Mumbai leaves several people dead, the Special Crime Unit is called in to investigate. While the main target seems to have been the secretary of a politician as the in-charge, ACP Avinash Verma probes further, there seems to be more to the shootout than meets the eye.

Silence 2 starts with a seemingly straightforward crime, but as the investigation progresses, the plot thickens, unveiling hidden motives, conflicting alibis, and unexpected connections. It is sporadically engaging. Few episodes of the movie from time to time make you want to watch a little more, however disengaging it is when it is simply not engaging. The movie succeeds in demonstrating how skillfully underage girls are tricked to getting into the escort business, even when they never wished to, in the first place. The narrative, though detailed, does stretch and while it comes with an unpredictable plot twist, it is not entirely convincing and leaves some unanswered questions. The screenplay tries to add a layer of ACP Verma’s lonely personal life, but that thread is mostly left unexplored. A few stray moments stand out in terms of writing and Manoj Bajpayee’s brilliance. The scene in which ACP Avinash asks his team to treat everything at a victim’s house with respect is beautifully written and executed. Another scene in which Avinash loses his cool at a pimp who forces underage girls into prostitution feels too uncomfortable to look at but too real to turn away from. Another scene leading up to the point where a crime location is being gheraoed by the cops deserves mention.

On the flipside, movie is a long and tedious watch. Despite being an investigative thriller, the film fails to thrill or keep you on the edge of your seats. The screenplay is loose as a result of which the story just keeps meandering. The supporting actors simply don’t act as well as they are required to, while sharing screen-space with a stalwart like Manoj Bajpayee, and this makes the movie feel caricaturist. What is worse is the climax and the revelation of the criminal. What follows is the motive provided. Thanks to the final sequence, it looks like the audience has very successfully wasted their time. The flashback of the killing at the bar is very unconvincing. How exactly the killer killed so many without a hindrance is not easy to digest. Also, the motive behind it is weak. While the film picks up pace, it is very sporadic. The pace keeps being unsteady, and the melodramatic treatment does not help the case. The writing could have been much crisper, especially at times when very craftily made crime thrillers are aplenty. Even as a director, he loses his reign over the film quite a few times. The execution does not help. his is one of those films that had the potential, but there were just so many flaws. Hopefully, with the hint of a third part at work, the flaws will be looked into, and the outcome would be better.

When I finished watching this film, I was left with many questions. By the end of the movie, you still do not know why one character behaves eccentrically and how another girl who had strange marks on her eyeballs was killed. These two plots were conveniently forgotten and by the end of it, I had a feeling of incompleteness. The movie bites off more than it could chew and that leads to these loose ends. The writing loopholes make you feel like you are watching an episode from a Hindi crime serial. It was painful to watch Manoj Bajpayee perform so well in a movie that does not do justice to him or any other character. My view on this movie Not Recommended.
