Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Movie Rating: 2 Stars

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, Sonakshi Sinha and Ronit Bose Roy
Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Release Date: 11th March 2024 in cinema

Story: Movie begins when an Indian convoy carrying a deadly weapon is ambushed and the soldiers guarding it are killed by Kabir (Prithviraj Sukumaran) who’s hiding his identity by wearing a mask. He leaves a message for the Indian army telling them that he has stolen their weapon, and they will have only 3 days to prevent the destruction of India.

On the other hand, Captain Misha (Manushi Chhillar) is informed by his agent about the attack and before he could tell more was killed by another mask man. Misha has a fight with him, and she shocked is shocked to see that the masked goon has self-healing powers. She reports about it to Colonel Adil Shekhar Azad (Ronit Roy).

Azad tells her to keep it a secret and instructs her to enlist court martialed soldiers Firoz aka Freddy (Tiger Shroff) and Rakesh aka Rocky (Akshay Kumar) for the mission. Both are the best assets of the Indian army. They are brave, honest and unapologetically patriotic. However, they are also a bit uncontrolled and defiant. But, when it comes to tackling an imminent threat from an enemy within, there’s no one else who can be trusted.

The package is tracked to London. The trio reach the UK capital where a tech expert, Pam (Alaya F) joins them. They successfully locate the package and devise a plan. Kabir is monitoring their moves and has a different agenda in his mind. What happened next is all about this movie.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on its release date as liked the trailer and big fan of grand action movies and director.

The film follows two former soldiers who reunite and race against time to save India from an imminent attack orchestrated by a vengeful mad scientist from his technological prowess.

BMCM story offers some novelty as it talks of AI and cloning but these concepts don’t appeal to the audience mainly because the screenplay is weak and also many of us has watched in Hollywood films in bigger level. The first half is packed with a frantic pace, adrenaline-pumping action and fun banter between Akshay and Tiger. It’s pedestrian humor but the punches work in forging good chemistry between the two actors. The post-interval portion of the drama at least moves at a faster pace and has some revelations which make the viewers concentrate more and, therefore, feel more involved even if that may be superficially. Tiger’s brooding handsome looks and chiseled body enhance his screen presence and he more than holds on to his own against Akshay Kumar. Unlike most high-octane actioners, this testosterone charged film actually ends up giving its leading ladies well-defined roles and important tasks. Manushi Chiller as Captain Misha is brilliant in landing lethal blows to the bad guys. Alaya F as the nerdy Dr Pam is also quite a hoot. The young actress shows spark with her near-perfect comic timing.

On the flipside, the action sequences and the scale are no doubt massive, but for the film to click, the plot needs to be strong, and that didn’t happen here. To make things worse, the film lacks logic. Major drawbacks of the screenplay are that the chemistry between Freddie and Rocky simply doesn’t come across although they work in complete tandem, and the light moments they share fail to create the entertainment they are designed to. There is absolutely no romance in the screenplay, something which has been forced in the form of songs during the end rolling titles. Emotions are conspicuous by their absence. The narrative is powered by a massive build-up in the first half and an unpredictable twist at the interval that raises expectations from the second half. But it pales in comparison. Logic takes a beating, and we see an over-simplified solution to an apocalyptic problem. Ali Abbas Zafar’s direction is ordinary. He has concentrated on form far more than on the content. With a script which just doesn’t create excitement for the viewers, his narration also loses steam except for its visual appeal which is just not enough. Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kabir is way too sophisticated to be a menacing anti-hero. Sonakshi Sinha doesn’t have much to do in her special appearance as Captain Priya.

Overall, movie is a mediocre product in which the action clicks, but the story doesn’t. Bollywood is churning out these patriotic films in large numbers, but they must come up with novel ideas to keep this genre alive. A big opportunity lost and not expected such ordinary film from Ali Abbas Zafar. My view on this movie Not Recommended still if you are action lover can watch it on your own risk.
