Betway ODI Series 2023: Only 2nd ODI series win for Team India against South Africa on their soil. They won the game by 78 runs in the 3rd and final ODI at Boland Park, Paarl. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

3rd ODI (India Vs South Africa)
Game Date: 21st December 2023
Details:
South Africa skipper Aiden Markram again won the toss and elected to field first in the 3rd and final game of ODI series against Team India at Boland Park, Paarl. Rajat Patidar become 402nd player to debut for Team India and replaced injured Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Team India scored 296/8 in their 50 overs after batting first. Strong turnaround from India after looking very subdued in the first 30 overs or so. They’ve scored 141 in the last 14 overs to finish with 296, with Sanju Samson scoring a brilliant ton. It was his first hundred in international cricket and one that he and has fans would hope would be the start of something special after a stop-start career so far. India looked to be in some bother at 101/3 when Rahul was dismissed. At that point Tilak Varma came out to join Samson and struggled very badly. The left-hander couldn’t rotate strike and was going nowhere, dragging India’s run rate behind quickly. That phase of play led to a couple of rash shots from Samson as well. But after a couple of lucky escapes, the partnership was able to turn things around. Varma got a move-on and scored his first ODI fifty, while Samson – who mostly looked comfortable and fluent on a tricky pitch – reached the three-figure milestone. There was movement early on for the seamers, and then Maharaj and Markram found a bit of turn as well. The pitch is a bit dry and on the slower side, and we even saw a lot of cutters being bowled towards the end. Sanju Samson scored 108 runs of 114 balls and Tilak Varma scored 52 runs of 77 balls. For South Africa, Beuran Hendricks picked 3 wickets for 63 runs in his 9 overs.

South Africa unable to chase the target and bowled out for 218 runs in 45.5 overs. A clinical performance from India, they win the game and thereby also win the series 2-1. Considering this isn’t nearly India’s full strength team, that’s an excellent result. It was a great effort with bat from India as they posted 296 after being in a spot of bother. They were led by a prolific century from Sanju Samson, his first in international cricket, and although it wasn’t the biggest of totals, they bowled well to make it seem like a lot more than it was. South Africa were actually going along nicely, de Zorzi was once again the pick of the batters as he made a fluent 81. They were going along nicely at 141/2 at the halfway mark but that’s when the tide turned. Aiden Markram’s wicket proved to be just the opening India needed as they kept chipping away at the wickets at regular intervals. None of the Protean batters were able to hold fort and build a partnership and once Miller departed in the 38th over, it was only a matter of time before India won. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 4/30 from 9 overs. Tony de Zorzi scored 81 runs of 87 balls and skipper Aiden Markram scored 36 runs of 41 balls. For Team India, Arshdeep Singh picked 4 wickets for 30 runs in his 9 overs.
