Now I am going to share day-to-day activity of this test match with all the details, records and milestones in my way.

Day 1.
England won the toss in the 3rd and final test against Pakistan and decided to bat first at Southampton. England team made one change and bring back Jofra Archer in place of Sam Curran while Pakistan team remain unchanged.

– 1000 runs in 21 innings for Joe Root vs Pakistan. Only Mohammad Yousuf reached 1000 runs in Eng-Pak quicker than Root (15 inngs). Salim Malik & David Gower also took 21 innings each.

Zak Crawley become third youngest (22y 200d) to score a century for England against Pakistan after Cook (21y 200d) & Botham (22y 191d)

– This is Second 200+ fifth wicket stand for England against Pakistan after 219 by Paul Collingwood & Eoin Morgan in Trent Bridge in 2010.

– 205* is the highest partnership Jos Buttler has been involved in Test cricket so far, surpassing 169 with Ben Stokes against India in Trent Bridge in 2018.

– 332/4 is 4th highest scores at the end of day 1 for England against Pakistan. The last time England scored 300+ in first day’s play vs Pak: 328/10 at the Oval, 2016

Day 2.
England are in great position as they restrict Pakistan for 24/3 on day 2 stumps after declaring first innings for a mammoth total in 3rd and final test against Pakistan at Southampton.

For England Zak Crawley scores 267 runs and Jos Buttler makes his individual highest test score of 152 runs. For Pakistan Shaheen Afridi, Yasir Shah and Fawad Alam picks 2 wickets each

359 runs partnerships between Zak Crawley and Jos Butler is highest 5th wicket partnership for England and also against Pakistan.

Zak Crawley become third youngest player to score 200 for England at 22y 201d also his 267 runs is second highest maiden Test century for England after 287 from RE Foster.

– 12 Innings taken by Crawley to reach his maiden double hundred – the joint-fourth fewest for England along with Bill Edrich. The ones to achieve the feat earlier in their career were Tip Foster (debut innings), David Lloyd (second innings) and Len Hutton (ninth innings).

– 583/8 declared is the highest total in six Tests in Southampton, surpassing England’s 569/7 declared against India in 2014. It is the third-highest total for England against Pakistan after 598/9 declared in Abu Dhabi in 2015/16 and 589/8 declared in Manchester in 2016.

– Zak Crawley 267 runs is now highest score dismissed stumped in Test cricket history after 258 SM Nurse against New Zealand and Ricky Pointing 257 runs against India.

Day 3.
England are in great position as they follow on Pakistan after they were all out for 273 runs in their first innings on day 3 stumps. For Pakistan Skipper Azhar Ali remain unbeaten on 141 runs and for England James Anderson picks up 5 wickets.

90 overs quota was not completed for the day because of bad light and rain.

– 122 catches by England skipper Joe Root is 2nd best in terms of most catches as fielder as hi surpass Andrew Strauss 121 catches. Only Alastair Cook has ahead of him with 175 catches.

Azhar Ali become fifth Pakistan batsman to 6000 Test runs after Javed Miandad, Inzamam ul Haq, Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan.

– 138 is highest sixth wicket partnership for Pakistan in England surpassing 105 between Shan Masood & Shadab Khan in the first Test of this series.

James Anderson claims his 29th five-fers which is 2nd highest among pacers after Richard Hadlee (36).

141* by Azhar Ali is third highest score of a Pakistan captain against England after Hanif Mohammad (187*) and Javed Miandad (153*).

Day 4.
Pakistan scored 100/2 in their 2nd innings at day 4 stumps as due to rain and bad light only 56 overs bowled in whole day.

PAK: 273 all out and 100/2 in 56 overs on Day 4 stumps

Stats
James Anderson is only 1 wicket away from magical 600 wickets figure in Test cricket.

– 23.4 overs by Shan Masood & Abid Ali is the longest opening partnership by a visiting pair in England since July 2016.

– It is also longest opening partnership for Pakistan against England in England since 2001 (37 innings) Imran Farhat & Yasir Hameed batted 17.3 overs at the Oval in 2010.

Day 5.
– Pakistan scored 187/4 in 83.1 overs before both team agreed for a Draw. Today game also started late due to bad light and rain and 90 overs quota was not completed. Babar Azam remain unbeaten on 63 runs and for England James Anderson picks 2 wickets.

PAK: 273 all out and 183/4 in 83.1 overs on Day 5 stumps

Stats
James Anderson become first pacer and overall only 4th player after spin trio (Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble) in test cricket history to claim 600 wickets.

England’s first series win against Pakistan since the 3-1 win at home in 2010.

-This is only the third time England have remained unbeaten in a series (2+ Tests) since Jan 2014.
