Pakistan tour of England 2020– 1st test highlights with interesting stats I am going to share with you all in this post with day by day activity.
Day 1.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the 1st test match against England at Manchester. England team remain unchanged from the team they have in the last test against West Indies which finished last week.
Pakistan scored 139/2 runs in the first day play as due to bad light and rain 90-quota was not completed.
PAK: 139/2 in 49 overs on Day 1 stumps
Stats
– In this series third umpire will call front foot no balls and this will apply in all test series played under ICC world test championship.
Day 2.
Pakistan finished their first innings on 326 with Shan Masood become top scorer with 156 runs and from bowling team Jofra Archer and Stuart Board takes 3 wickets each. England scored 92/4 in their first innings on day 2 stumps.
PAK: 326 all out
ENG: 92/4 in 28 overs on day 2 stumps
Stats
– England at one time lost 3 wickets for just 12 runs and first time after 2000 they have lost such quick wickets.
– 105 runs partnerships for 6th wicket for Pakistan is now highest against England surpassing previous 98 created in 1971.
– Pakistani opener Shan Masood become 6th player and 2nd opener overall to hit 3 consecutive centuries in Tests.
Day 3.
England were all out for 219 runs in their first innings with Ollie Pope become top scorer with 62 runs and from bowling team Yasir Shah picks 4 wickets. Thus Pakistan gets a 107 lead.
Pakistan in their 2nd innings score 137/8 with total lead of 244 runs at the day 3 stumps.
PAK: 326 all out, 137/8 in 44 overs on day 3 stumps
ENG: 219 all out.
Stats
– James Anderson and Stuart Broad become 2nd most successful pair in the test history (901 wickets) by surpassing Srilanka’s legends Chaminda Vaas and Murlidharan tally of 895 wickets
– England have now conceded a 100+ run first innings lead in the first Test of six of their last seven series.
– Pakistani opener Shan Masood become 4th Pakistani player who scores highest 1 innings runs and dismissed for a duck in 2nd innings in Tests.
– Nasim Shah become third youngest to claim a wicket in England in Test cricket
Day 4.
Pakistan were all out for 169 runs in their 2nd innings and set the target of 277 runs to England. Yasir shah become top scorer with 33 runs and Stuart Broad picks up 3 wickets.
While chasing the target England were 117/5 at one time but with the heroic effort from Jos Butler and Chris Woakes England managed to chase the memorable target with 3 wickets in hand. Woakes remain not out for 84 runs.
PAK: 326, 169
ENG: 219, 277/7 in 82.1 overs on day 4.

Stats
– 107 runs leads is 6th highest 1st innings lead for Pakistan in losing cause.
– This is 7th consecutive loss for Pakistan in overseas in last 7 tests except UAE.
– 160 scored by England after losing 5 wickets in successful run chase is 2nd best for them in test history.
– After 20 years any team have chased 250+ score against Pakistan in test cricket
– This is first test win for England in last six tests.
