Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 164/7 runs in their 20 overs. This is the highest score at Sharjah this season. The innings can be divided into three halves first the Kohli-Padikkal phase, the Henriques show and Maxwell’s carnage. RCB started positively with yet another 50+ opening stand but lost their way in the middle with three quick wickets. Henriques put the brakes on for Punjab and just when they seemed to get a hold of the game, Maxwell entered the frame. He took on the spinners and smashed them to all parts, bringing up his fifty off just 29 balls. What his innings has done is, it has given RCB a very good total to defend. The surface is tricky and don’t be fooled by how easily Maxwell batted. This is going to be an interesting chase for PBKS. Punjab Kings unable to chase the target and scored only 158/6 in their 20 overs and lost the game 6 wickets. With this loss PBKS is officially out of the race of play-offs. The same old story once again! Punjab had this in their bag till the 10th over when Rahul and Mayank were going all guns blazing, but RCB managed to do it again. Mayank should have carried on once Rahul departed, but he couldn’t handle the pressure. It was Chahal who helped the Challengers bounce back in the match and by the end of his spell, RCB were right on top. Shahrukh Khan looked promising, but Harshal Patel played a crucial role in running him out. And with the ball, barring Chahal, Garton bowled quite an impressive spell too. Punjab have hurt their chances to make it through to the playoffs given their poor net run rate. They have only one game to go, whereas, Mumbai, KKR and the Royals have two matches each. Mayank Agarwal scored 57 of 42 balls and skipper KL Rahul scored 39 of 35 balls. For RCB Yuzvendra Chahal pick 3 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs quota.
