Punjab Kings scored 125/7 runs in their 20 overs. That’s a brilliant bowling performance by SRH. It looked like they were back playing at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium where they are accustomed to the slow nature of the surface. Yes, it is two paced and on the slower side but they still had to execute and they did it to perfection. Punjab’s batting backbone and openersKL and Mayank were sent back by Holder in a space of five balls inside the powerplay and that left the middle order exposed. Markram was the only one who showed some application but he too could not carry on and if not for that 14-run last over the final score would have been well below the 120-mark. Batting is not easy but if SRH have seen CSK’s chase yesterday then they have a readymade template to follow and collect the odd boundary and keep the scoreboard moving. Aiden Markram scored 27 of 32 balls and Skipper KL Rahul scored 21 of 21 balls. For SRH Jason Holder pick 3 wickets of 19 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Sunrisers unable to chase the target and scored 120/7 in their 20 overs and lost the game by just 5 runs. Relief in the Punjab camp. Another game that’s gone down to the wire, kind of, and this time they have ended on the right side of it. Hyderabad only have themselves to blame really. 126 wasn’t the biggest of targets, even if you factor in the ultra-slowness of the pitch, but they just had no impetus in the run chase until Holder’s arrival. Warner and Williamson fell to Shami’s excellent new-ball burst and the Punjab boys then kept squeezing the run flow. Saha, Pandey and Jadhav did get starts but none of them looked like taking the game away from the opposition. It actually seemed like a comfortable win for Punjab before Holder started belting sixes for fun, taking the game deep but in the end, he lacked support. If only someone else had also shown more intent. Not to take anything away from KL Rahul’s boys, they were exceptional with the ball. This is the lowest score successfully defended in the IPL at Sharjah. Jason Holder scored 47 of 29 balls and Wriddhiman Saha scored 31 of 37 balls. For PBKS Ravi Bishnoi 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs quota.
