Vivo IPL Match 27: MI beat CSK by 4 wickets in last ball thriller at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Now I will share the details of this IPL game match in my way.

27th Game (Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings)
Game Date: 1st May 2021
Details:
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first in the 27th game of IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings. Two change in MI playing XI as they have included James Neesham and Dhawal Kulkarni in the place of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jayant Yadav. Their 4 foreign players for the game are Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult and James Neehsam.

No change in CSK playing XI. Their four foreign players of this game are Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran and Lungi Ngidi.

Chennai Super Kings scored 218/4 runs their 20 overs. Ambati Rayudu played stunning innings. MI had taken 3 wickets in the space of 7 balls but Rayudu came out with an I-don’t-care-about-it attitude. Took Bumrah apart too with his range of hits and got CSK to an above par total score-wise. At one stage it looked like CSK may struggle to get to 185, but Rayudu stole the show and Bumrah went for 56 runs, his costliest IPL outing. MI chose to bowl and Boult got them off to a good start by getting Ruturaj in the first over. Bowled a couple of good balls to Moeen first up, but Faf and Moeen then took on the bowlers in style to ensure a good powerplay. Moeen’s timing was so good to watch and he wasn’t afraid to hit the ball in the air. He added 108 runs with Faf before Bumrah got him. Pollard dented CSK by removing Faf and Raina off successive balls, but MI’s “tactical” changes to bring in Neesham and Kulkarni didn’t work as both went over 12 runs per over. Rayudu’s stellar hitting meant Jadeja could get away with his struggle a run-a-ball 22. Ambati Rayudu scored 72* of 27 balls and Moeen Ali scored 58 of 36 balls. For MI Kieron Pollard pick 2 wickets for 12 runs in his 2 overs.

Mumbai Indians chased down the target by scoring the winning run in last ball and 219/6 in their 20 overs and won the game by 4 wickets. The defending champions got off to a brisk start, thanks to their openers. But, they lost three wickets in three overs and were reduced to 81/3 in the tenth over. Clearly, CSK were the favorites at that stage, but their nemesis Pollard had other ideas. Mind you, the West Indies all-rounder did his bit with the ball too by applying the brakes in the middle overs of the first innings by picking back-to-back wickets. Kieron Pollard scored 87* of 34 balls and Quinton de Kock scored 38 of 28 balls. For CSK Sam Curran picks 3 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs quota.

CSK: 218/4 in 20 overs
MI: 219/6 in 20 overs

Result: Mumbai Indians won by 4 wickets
Man of the Match: Kieron Pollard
