Vivo IPL: DC become first team to qualify for the play-offs after beating RR by 33 runs in the 36th game of IPL 2021 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Now I will share the details of this IPL game match in my way.

36th Game (Delhi Capitals Vs Rajasthan Royals)
Game Date: 25th September 2021
Details:
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to field first in the 36th game of IPL 2021 against Delhi Capitals. Their four foreign players of this game are Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Tabraiz Shamsi and Mustafizur Rahman.. Two changes in RR as they included David Miller and Tabraiz Shamsi in the place of injured Chris Morris and Evin Lewis.

DC also made one change and included Lalit Yadav in the playing XI in the place of injured Marcus Stoinis. Their three foreign players of this game are Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Shimron Hetmyer..

Delhi Capitals scored 154/6 runs in their 20 overs. The initial reaction is that RR are the happier side at the moment. Having won the toss, they have managed to keep DC to a not-so-threatening score. It was an innings that never really got into top gear with wickets falling at regular intervals. The track did look tacky too and appeared to be sticky, thereby allowing the bowlers with change-of-pace to thrive. RR on their part exploited it brilliantly too with Mustafizur being the standout performer. Iyer, Pant and Hetmyer all got starts but none of them batted deep enough. Ideally a score in the 160-165 range would have been extremely challenging on this deck but DC have to work with what they have got. RR will fancy this chase although given DC’s bowling prowess, it could be an interesting second half. Shreyas Iyer scored 43 of 32 balls and Shimron Hetmyer scored 28 of 16 balls. For RR Mustafizur and Sakariya picks 2 wickets each.

Rajasthan Royals unable to chase the target and scored 121/6 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 33 runs. The Delhi bowlers have flexed their muscles here. Given just 154 to defend, and they’ve done it by a comprehensive margin. That six off the penultimate ball took Avesh over the threshold, but before that none of them were going at more than 7 an over. With the new ball, Avesh and Nortje ran in hard and got a couple of early wickets, before Ashwin took over, giving little away and inducing a brilliant stumping of Miller. As a result, RR were already facing an uphill task when they slipped to 17/3 in the powerplay. They had a couple of partnerships from there, but they never got out of the stranglehold that Delhi’s bowlers had on them. By the time Samson found a greater gear close to the 15th over and it was too late and he had no support. The pitch wasn’t a belter, and the ball was holding slightly. But the Royals made it look a lot worse. Skipper Sanju Samson scored 70* of 53 balls and Mahipal Lomror scored 19 of 24 balls. For DC Anrich Nortje 2 wickets for 18 runs in his 4 overs quota.

DC: 154/6 in 20 overs
RR: 121/6 in 20 overs

Result: Delhi Capitals won by 33 runs
Man of the Match: Shreyas Iyer
