Tribhanga Movie Review: Inspirational ideas aren’t enough unless they make for a riveting viewing experience
Tribhanga Movie Rating: 2 stars
Just watched Tribhanga movie on Netflix. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Kajol, Tanve Azmi, Mithila Palkar, Kunaal Roy Kapor, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, Manav Gohil. Kanwaljeet Singh, Shweta Mehendale and Nishank Verma
Director: Renuka Shahane
Release Date: 15th Jan 2021 on Netflix
Story: The film begins with the shot of a desktop whose wallpaper features the three leading ladies one of a multiple award-winning novelist Nayan (Tanvi Azmi), her actress-daughter Anuradha Apte aka Anu (Kajol) and her granddaughter Masha (Mithila Palkar).
Milan Upadhyay (Kunaal Roy Kapoor) a shuddh Hindi-spouting guy who has been engaged by Nayan to pen her autobiography. Nayan suffers a brain stroke while sharing her story and admitted to hospital. On the other hand Anu is gearing up for her Odissi dance stage performance. Her dance recital gets interrupted when she learns that her estranged mother Nayan has been comatose after suffering a brain stroke.
Anu doesn’t have a very cordial relationship with her. It is in the hospital that they get to think about the debatable decisions of their lives. Nayan is an ambitious author who prioritised her career over her husband. Seeing her predicaments with a failed marriage, Anu reasons being a single mother can be a solution to all the complications. But for Masha, neither works. Her controversial mother has been the reason of her miserable childhood and hence she wants to be a dedicated family woman.
The three generations are antithetical who question and challenge the rigid traditional interpretations of women in our patriarchal society but they appear very much alike. They have seen their preceding generations struggling to adjust themselves between being rebels and ideal mothers and don’t want to be like them. But they end up being the same.
Positives
1. Kajol and support cast excellent performance
2. Story
3. Intension
Negatives
1. Climax
2. Mediocre Direction
3. Screenplay
4. Slow and dragged at some point
Durgesh Tiwary’s View : > When I watched the trailer it looks very interesting and always loved the acting of Kajol and also big name associated with it so planned to watch on the release day.
Movie start on fascinating note and it keep me engaged till intermission and I thought it will be something different but unfortunately it started to bored me because of it’s shoddy editing. With such star cast and director it can be always expected to be good but it is effective in parts. There is hardly much explanation about why her brother (Vaibhav Tatwawaadi) turned towards Krishna. At the same time, not much has been explained or rather explored about Kajol’s relation with Manav Gohil.
But still if you are fan of Kajol you can definitely watch it once you have time with your family. My View on this movie Time Pass!!
