Tabbar Web Series Rating: 3.5 Stars
Just watched Tabbar web series on Sony LIV. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.
Cast: Pavan Malhotra, Supriya Pathak, Gagan Arora, Sahil Mehta, Paramvir Cheema, Kanwaljit Singh, Ranvir Shorey, Ali Mughal and Nupur Nagpal
Director: Ajitpal Singh
Release Date: 15th October 2021 (Sony LIV)
Duration: 8 Episodes/ 35 Minutes
Story: Each episode begins with a quote by Baba Farid who was a Sufi preacher and saint who was popular in Punjab during the 12th century. Tabbar meaning family in Punjabi is based on an idea by Harman Wadal.
Series begins in Deep Nagar, Jalandhar on the eve of an election that pits Ahuja (Rohit Khurana) against Ajeet Sodhi (Ranvir Shorey). Sodhi is fighting on an anti-drug plank which is most inconvenient considering his brother Maheep Sodhi (Rachit Bahal) is going to land up in Jalandhar with a consignment of cocaine.
On the other hand Punjab policeman-turned-convenience store owner Omkar Singh (Pavan Malhotra) lives with his wife Sargun (Supriya Pathak Kapur) and two sons IAS aspirant Harpreet Happy Singh (Gagan Arora) and drifter Tegi (Sahil Mehta) whose ambition is to be a social media star.
Happy has just arrived from Delhi on a brief break from the coaching institute. Tegi rummages through the latter’s duffle bag for a gift that his elder sibling had promised. He fishes out a packet and hides it. Turns out that there has been a mix-up and the bag isn’t Happy’s. Its real owner Maheep comes in for his bag and due to unforeseen and unfortunate events Happy shot Maheep and who died in their house. Sodhi’s bodyguard Multan (Ali Mughal) is on the prowl for Maheep. Ahuja wants to play the situation to his advantage. Meanwhile Omar’s nephew Lucky (Paramvir Singh Cheema) begins to join the dots between Maheep’s disappearance and his uncle’s suddenly suspicious behaviour.
Omkar’s nosy neighbour Mahajan (Babla Kochhar) whose daughter Palak (Nupur Nagpal) is Happy’s sweetheart also gets his hands on a crucial piece of evidence that can ruin everything. For Omkar and his family, safety lies in not only getting rid of the corpse but also ensuring that anybody in the neighborhood who has the slightest inkling of what might have transpired in their home that night is silenced. How Omkar uses his experience as a former police officer to shield his sons from arrest and how far he will go save his family is all about this series.

3. Screenplay
4. Climax

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in my free time because of excellent trailer and story that is very much like of Drishyam and Breathe first season.
The story of Tabbar revolves around the family of Omkar Singh who is a retired police constable. He runs a small grocery store and loves his wife Sargun dearly. The couple has two sons. However things spiral down for the happy family when their elder son Happy shoots a local politician’s younger brother. After the unfortunate incident, a tragedy of errors ensues. Since it’s a high-profile case, everyone is on the lookout for the murderer, but Omkar vows to go to any extent to protect his family.
The eight-episode Punjabi/Hindi series utilizes the conventions of a crime thriller to mount an affecting acute exploration of calamity culpability and a clan in crisis. The show is a completely unconventional affair and it hinges more on emotions and psychological inquests than on overtly dramatic action. The riveting tale homes in on a family of four inadvertently sucked into a situation that quickly spirals out of control. As the threats multiply, the patriarch is compelled to make desperate choices that push him, his wife and his two sons into a moral abyss hard to climb out of.
The SonyLiv series is gripping. With every passing episode, the show gets grimmer and darker, as more brutal killings take place. At times, the series fails to convince the viewers with sudden plot twists. However it still manages to keep you on the edge of your seats. My View on this web-series Highly Recommended.
