New Zealand scored 152/5 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. Brilliant from Pakistan to keep this to 152, but brilliant from New Zealand to post 150+ after the top-order struggled. This is in the balance folks. Apart from one runout miss, Pakistan was pretty rounded in the field. Shaheen got them off to a great start by having the last laugh against Finn Allen. Shadab‘s direct hit broke what looked like a determined stand between Conway and Kane, but Kane understood he had to bat through with the best playing enforcers. Phillips didn’t succeed but Mitchell did succeed yet again in a T20 World Cup semifinal. New Zealand’s ability to not succumb under pressure and have clarity in thought is what has bailed them out with the bat today and umpteen times recently in ICC comps. It’s a two-paced pitch, not a hit through the line pitch. And they have one of the most potent attacks for such conditions. Boult, Southee, Santner, Sodhi. This is pure battle of mental strength. Whoever wins that battle wins the game. All Pakistan need is to keep wickets in hand and build at least one partnership. Daryl Mitchell scored 53* runs of 35 balls and skipper Kane Williamson scored 46 runs of 42 balls. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi pick 2 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Pakistan chased down the target successfully by scoring 153/3 in his 19.1 overs. It’s incredible how things are falling in place for Pakistan as they make their first T20 World Cup final in 13 years. Today it was the opening pair, the much-scrutinised opening pair of Babar and Rizwan, who rose to the occasion with fifties apiece. Their bowling was brilliant again to restrict New Zealand to 152. But that total had the potential to be a tricky one on a slow pitch if their problems at the top had continued. However, all that talk was put to rest as the duo got them off to a firing start and settled the nerves. New Zealand weren’t quite up to scratch with the new ball either, with Boult and Southee going for plenty. The fielding also was a bit sloppy, in contrast to Pakistan who were just ON tonight. Mohammad Rizwan scored 57 of 43 balls and skipper Babar Azam scored 53 runs of 42 balls. For New Zealand, Trent Boult pick 2 wickets for 33 runs in his 4 overs quota.
