Pakistan scored 137/8 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. They are well below par here. They just couldn’t get going or rather England didn’t allow them to get going. Rizwan went early and so did young Haris, Babar and Masood started to build a partnership, but Adil Rashid broke it and after that Pakistan couldn’t get any meaningful partnerships. All the England bowlers were excellent especially Rashid and Curran as the duo picked five wickets between them, while Jordan ensured Mark Wood was not missed. This is not a championship winning total but if there’s one team that can defend this then it would be Pakistan. England brushed away India’s 168 in 16 overs. Shan Masood scored 38 runs of 28 balls and skipper Babar Azam scored 32 runs of 28 balls. For England, Sam Curran pick 3 wickets for just 12 runs in his 4 overs quota.

England chased down the target by scoring 138/5 in 19 overs and won the T20 World cup for the 2nd time. The England team run onto the field as Stokes roars and fist pumps. All smiles and hugs in the red camp. Buttler is a satisfied leader. First big tournament for him as captain and he has won the championship. Meanwhile Pakistan gather themselves. They know England were the deserving winners on the day. Didn’t get enough runs but their bowlers turned absolute gold for most parts till Shaheen was forced off with that injury. England still had it in them to cross the line even if Afridi was on with so many hitters packed in their line-up, especially with a dogged Stokes getting stuck like glue at the crease. When Rauf got Buttler, Pakistan had a lot of belief but Stokes what he does best soak up pressure in a big game and hold one end. Brook managed to spend some time, but when he fell, Afridi did some damage to his knee while taking the catch and that took the steam out of the Pakistani attack. England romped home in the end. Full credit to Pakistan for making a match out of this though. Ben Stokes scored 52* of 49 balls and skipper Jos Buttler scored 28 runs of 17 balls. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf pick 2 wickets for 23 runs in his 4 overs quota.
