Team India bowled out for 219 runs in 47.3 overs after batting first. New Zealand have rolled India over for a below-par total. There is a lot of grass and lateral movement on offer from the pitch, but some of India’s dismissals were soft. Shreyas and Washi showed that runs were there to be had and this pitch demanded good technique and application. Barring the two, most of the batters struggled as New Zealand kept the pressure on by moving the ball both ways. Kane bowled Milne out early to go for the kill having got three key wickets. Southee chipped in with two at the end but it was Mitchell who grabbed three coming in as a utility bowler as New Zealand didn’t employ spin until the 43rd over. The ball was still nibbling around even in the final over of this innings. India have some good swing bowlers in Arshdeep and Chahar. Advantage New Zealand, yes, but can India take this deep with a good fight? Washington Sundar scored 51 runs of 64 balls and Shreyas Iyer scored 49 runs of 59 balls. For New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell & Adam Milne pick 3 wickets each.
Innings Break! #TeamIndia post 219 on the board!

New Zealand scored 104/1 in 18 overs before rain play spoilsport. It was drizzling for a little but later gotten heavier. New Zealand were in the driver’s seat to make it 2-0, but rain played spoilsport. Clearly, they were the better side today, with the ball and definitely with the bat. India did not apply themselves on a testing pitch as a whole batting unit. Washi and Shreyas were the only ones to adapt well. All of New Zealand pacers bowled well with Milne and Mitchell sharing six wickets between them. India did get the new ball to swing and seam. Both Conway and Allen were troubled on a number of occasions, but Allen got away with a few edges and completed his fifty. Conway lined up Chahar for 4 fours to put New Zealand well ahead. Two more overs were needed to get a result but the rain, which stayed away in the afternoon and evening, turned up in sizeably. Fin Allen scored 57 runs of 54 balls and Devon Conway scored 38* of 51 balls. For Team India, Umran Malik picks only failing wicket.
