Day 1.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss in the 1st test against Pakistan and decided to bowl first at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
New Zealand made 2 changes in their playing XI and included Matt Henry in place of injured Neil Wagner and Daryl Mitchell in place of Mitchell Santner While Pakistan made one change and included debutant Zafar Gohar in place of Yasir Shah.

New Zealand declared their first innings on mammoth total of 659/6d and now they have lead of massive 362 runs. Kane Williamson scored 238 runs and Henry Nicholls scored 157 runs. For Pakistan Afridi, Abbas and Ashraf picks 2 wickets each.
