New Zealand scored 153/6 in their 20 overs. Brilliant bowling display from the Indian team. New Zealand were 56/1 in the powerplay and looking ominous. Rohit and Co. were literally using the towel every single ball with so much dew around. But Ashwin and Axar put on a top show in the middle overs despite the ball being wet. Harshal picked up from where he left off in the IPL to make life really difficult for the batters. Glenn Phillips was set to take this deep, but Harshal got him after Ashwin bowled a game-changing 3-run over. All of India’s bowlers then took pace and never offered anything in the arc and the result and New Zealand couldn’t find the fence in their last 29 balls. Bhuvi bowled a top first and last over, but was taken apart in the middle part. His final over will have impressed everyone though. Harshal looked threatening than the 2 wickets against his name. Deepak Chahar could have had better figures had those mishits not found gaps. Glenn Phillips scored 34 of 21 balls and Martin Guptill scored 31 of 15 balls. For India Harshal Patel pick 2 wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs quota on debut game.

Team India chased down the target by scoring 155/3 in 17.2overs. It’s only towards the end of the Indian chase that the Kiwi bowlers found a bit of their mojo. Alas, much like Jaipur, it was all too late. Also, much like Jaipur, it’s the bowling that has won India this. 154 was at least 30 too few with the dew around, but Rohit and Rahul made it look like 50 too few. They took their time, didn’t really have to take risks, and then like they always do, put up a show. They don’t just get runs, they get beautiful runs. Apart from those four overs after the powerplay when the Kiwi spinners pulled it back a touch, the asking rate was never a problem. Although, again, the target was in no way challenging, Southee‘s tactic of bowling Sodhi for only a couple of overs, or him not turning to his sixth bowler to try and take pace off the ball was pretty confusing. KL Rahul scored 65 of 49 balls and Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 55 of 36 balls. For New Zealand skipper Tim Southee picks all 3 fallen wickets in his 4 overs quota for just 16 runs.
WHAT. A. WIN! 👏 👏#TeamIndia secure a 7⃣-wicket victory in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand & take an unassailable lead in the series. 👍 👍 #INDvNZ @Paytm
