Story: Museum worker Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) occasionally suffers from blackouts and memories of another life. He also chains himself to sleep so that he doesn’t find himself in unfamiliar places and forgets about his dates, or shows up to them two days late. He is not aware of his other personalities including Spector and thinks the visions are a result of his mental illness.

After landing in an unknown place and being pursued by armed men, he finds himself in the possession of an ancient compass that apparently shows the direction of the tomb of the Egyptian God Ammit. Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and his clan. Steven witnesses Harrow judge a woman for her sins and kill her for the crimes she might commit in future. Not knowing how the ancient Egyptian God cleanses the world by punishing people even before they have committed a crime, Grant hands them over the compass that is essential in finding Ammit’s grave.

However, he is stopped by something and a voice in his head is constantly giving him instructions. After having a blackout, he finds himself amid a fight scene. Several blackouts later and he escapes the fight scene, killing or injuring all his opponents but he has no idea how. Upon returning home from a mis-scheduled date, Grant finds a hidden phone and keycard in his apartment. He gets a call from a mysterious woman called Layla (May Calamawy) who calls him Marc.

The next day at work, Grant is confronted by Harrow, who reveals that he is a servant of the goddess Ammit. Later that night, Harrow summons an Anubis jackal monster that attacks Grant at the museum. Just as Grant is cornered by the monster, his reflection in the mirror tells Grant to let him take control. Grant agrees and he transforms into a cloaked warrior who then kills the monster.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch on premiere day because it is presented by Marvel and always liked superhero films.

In the show, the dominant personality of Spector is Steven Grant is a timid, soft-spoken Londoner working at a gift-shop in a museum. He lives a troubled, lonely life, believing he sleep-walkers In one of those visions, he gets transported to a village in Swiss Alps and encounters a cult leader called Arthur Harrow who seems to have magical powers and runs his own religious community, and promises salvation and eternal happiness for his flock. His ultimate aim is to resurrect Ammit, a funerary deity and demon-goddess, who the ancient Egyptians feared. Spector wants to stop him on behalf of Khonshu. Grant abhors violence and just wishes to be left alone.

The latest offering Moon Knight is the first genuinely interesting and entertaining Marvel superhero TV show so far. Based on the lunar-themed superhero of the same name and writers have altered the origin of the character in the show. While in comics, the titular hero is really a mercenary called Marc Spector, who acquires superpowers from the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, a relatively minor deity in the pantheon. He suffers from dissociative identity disorder, and has trouble distinguishing reality from hallucination.

The first episode takes its time to build the plot around his mental illness and shows how difficult he finds it to navigate through a day. His illness also makes him and us question whether his adventures as Spector have any truth to them or those are his imagination. However, the most exciting part about this upcoming series is its detachment from the core MCU heroes. Out of all the shows that pocket the universe in a constrained space for niche characters giving them a big story in the MCU, it has the privilege of having no baggage. Here is a man who ties himself up to a pole while he sleeps, so he doesn’t sleep walk while he dreams. He talks to a fish, a man who acts as a statue to earn livelihood and even to thin air.

Marc Spector’s character and its journey is something that is being built from scratch by the studio. The fresh adventures that he’ll be embarking upon leave the scope open for MCU to bring more new characters from the comics to life. Overall This is one of the most unique and different Marvel product in the longest time. There is a lot to learn and explore. My View on this web-series Highly Recommended.
