Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on digital premiere because skipped theatrical release as looks very mediocre.
A grumpy teacher and his kind wife clash on the subject of kids, but a rare twist of fate leads them to connect in ways they never thought possible.
Mister Mummy story and screenplay have nothing in terms of entertainment. The entire concept of showing a man’s tummy growing in size because he is pregnant seems repulsive. Actually, seeing a pregnant man is even more cringeworthy. As a result, what was meant to be a comedy turns out to be irritating. The majority of the scenes are also repetitive, making it a lengthy watch. Most of the humour is forced, and aside from Amol’s conversations with himself, nothing makes you laugh. Conceptually, it is definitely interesting, but the way it’s presented leaves a lot to be desired. For a major part of the film, you are left confused about what is happening. Riteish tries to be a strict, ruthless teacher but fails miserably. He is also in situations that just don’t seem plausible. Imagine an Indian talking to British students in Hindi, they understand him perfectly and even take punishments as he says.
The second half of the film gets a little hilarious but that absolutely does not make up for what the first half did and drag on without making much sense. The end of the film is melodramatic but still works, if you put logic aside and emotions at play. No, we mean it. There’s absolutely no logic to the story. Whatever you saw in the past one and a half hour, goes down the drain with this scene. There is a scientific and perfectly credible explanation to what Amol goes through, but by the time it comes, it hardly matters. The film shot apathetically on lovely British locations has an incomplete feel about it. Hardly any commercial Indian feature film comes in at under two hours, like this one. Even the short running time is punishing for the audience.
Overall, movie could have explored a lot more with the material at hand. But Shaad Ali ends up losing out on this opportunity. Definitely not worth watching. Please skip this film if you want to keep loving Riteish-Genelia. Also, if you love going to the movies, stay away from this one or your love can turn to hate real soon. My view on this movie Not Recommended
