Team India scored 162/5 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. This is a two-paced tacky pitch and as we saw from the Sri Lankan spinners, especially Hasaranga, when you vary the pace, it stops and there is extra bounce as well. India started well with Ishan Kishan taking 17 off the first over but then Sri Lanka fought back as the batters succumbed in their bit to hit out and falling to the pitch’s tricks. Hooda and Axar got together at 94/5 and their 68-run standoff 36 balls has given the hosts a total to bowl at. Hooda was brilliant as he put away the bad balls and Axar too got the boundaries away despite playing a few dots. For Sri Lanka the spinners were excellent and Madushanka apart from his final over was impressive with his skiddy pace and tight lines. Deepak Hooda scored 41* runs of 23 balls and Axar Patel scored 31* runs of 20 balls. For Sri Lanka, Madushanka, Theekshana, Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva and Hasaranga picks 1 wicket each
#TeamIndia post 162/5 on the board!
4⃣1⃣* for Deepak Hooda
3⃣7⃣ for Ishan Kishan
3⃣1⃣* for Akshar Patel
Over to our bowlers now 👍 👍Sri Lanka innings underway.

Sri Lanka unable to chase the target and bowled out for 160 runs in 20 overs and lost the game by just 2 runs. India have defended a total at the Wankhede. A venue known for chasing but Sri Lanka fall just short. There was supposed to be dew and it did arrive but a bit late than usual by which time Sri Lanka’s innings was more than halfway through. They lost a couple of wickets early and could not keep up with the asking rate, the impetus to the innings came when Shanaka walked out to the middle and started to send a few balls into the crowd, he was supported by Hasaranga and at that stage the visitors looked favorites. But Mavi, who had picked up the first two wickets, came back and broke the partnership and Umran followed it up with the big wicket of Shanaka a couple of overs later. Karunaratne carried the fight forward but found himself a boundary short of victory. Skipper Dasun Shanaka scored 45 of 27 balls and Kusal Mendis scored 28 runs of 25 balls. For Team India, debutant Shivam Mavi picks 4 wickets for 22 runs in his 4 overs quota.
That's that from the 1st T20I.#TeamIndia win by 2 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
