New Zealand scored 176/6 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. That 27-run final over might just be the kind of momentum New Zealand were looking for after losing their way in the middle overs. They got off to a flier (37-0 after 4 overs) and were pegged back by a double-wicket over from Washington Sundar which also included a brilliant return catch. Conway got out soon after his fifty and Mitchell, despite struggling for the first half of his innings, found rhythm in the slog overs, belting 5 sixes and 1 four during that phase to record a 26-ball fifty while at it. The outfield is lightning quick and should be a thrilling run-chase from India. Daryl Mitchell scored 59* runs of 30 balls and Devon Conway scored 52 runs of 35 balls. For Team India, Washington Sundar picks 2 wicket for 22 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Team India unable to chase the target and scored 155/9 runs in 20 overs and lost the game by 21 runs. That 27-run last over gave New Zealand the momentum and they came firing with the ball. In an era of match ups, Santner got his spot on and India were rocked early as they were 15 for 3; Bracewell accounted for the left-handed Kishan, Duffy sent back Tripathi and Santner outfoxed the right-handed Gill. SKY and Hardik steadied the innings and brought India back into the contest by the halfway mark, but the pair departed in successive overs and left the lower order with too much to do. Washington continued his good game as he backed up his 2/21 with a maiden T20I fifty, if not for his knock the margin of defeat would have been even more. Santner (4-1-11-2) was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers, and the skipper was well supported by his spin partners. Washington Sundar scored 50 of 28 balls and Suryakumar Yadav scored 47 runs of 34 balls. For New Zealand, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner and Lockie Ferguson picks 2 wickets each.
That's that from Ranchi.
