Team India won 2nd ODI against New Zealand-cricketmovie.com

Mastercard ODI Series 2023: Team India registered their biggest win against New Zealand in terms of balls remaining at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. They won the 2nd ODI by 8 wickets and seal the series with 1 more ODI to go. Now I will share the details of this game in my own way.

2nd ODI (India Vs New Zealand)
Game Date: 21st January 2023
Details:
Indian Team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first in the 2nd ODI game against New Zealand Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. No changes in Team India for this game.

New Zealand bowled 0ut for 108 runs in 34.2 overs after batting first. Not the first half anyone expected, that’s for sure. Got to say that Rohit won a good toss because the pitch did do a fair bit upfront due to the grass cover on it. Siraj and Shami hit their straps from the get-go, slicing through the NZ top and middle order, reducing the visitors to 15/5 at one stage. It wasn’t unplayable by any means, and the Kiwis were guilty of some loose shots as well. But credit to the Indian bowlers who all chipped in. Hardik and Shardul ensured that the pressure wasn’t reduced while Kuldeep got one to his name as well. Phillips, Bracewell and Santner were the only batters to get starts, but they just couldn’t handle the pressure for long enough to get their side out of choppy waters. Unless we see something really dramatic, this should be a stroll in the park for India. Glenn Phillips scored 36 runs of 52 balls and skipper Mitchell Santner scored 27 runs of 39 balls. For Team India, Mohammed Shami picks 3 wickets for 18 runs in his 6 overs.

Team India chase the target by scoring 111/2 in runs in 20.1 overs and won the game by 8 wickets. Easily among India’s most clinical ODI wins in recent times. 109 was never going to be enough even to compete and India’s openers made short work of it. Rohit in particular looked in the mood as he stroked an eye-catching fifty to entertain the crowd. Gill was a bit restrained today as he batted through till the end with a lot of composure. He too did play some fab strokes of course, extending his glorious run of form with the bat. NZ’s bowlers can’t really be faulted as they just didn’t have the runs to play with. Their only hope was to strike early with the new ball but that didn’t happen. India’s batters completed the formalities without much fuss. The game was setup by the bowlers and New Zealand will rue their indiscipline with the bat. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 51 of 50 balls and Shubman Gill scored 40* runs of 53 balls. For New Zealand, Henry Shipley & Santner picks 1 wicket each.

NZ: 108 all out in 34.3 overs
