Story: A sequel to mystic thriller Karthikeya, which deals with the personal problems of Karthik and how he comes out of them. His pursuit of the truth leads him to find out the power of Indian ancient system and Tatva of Lord Sri Krishna.
3 years after the events in Karthikeya, Professor Ranganath Raoan (KS Sridhar) archaeological researcher visits a library in Greece and learns that Lord Krishna has trusted Uddhava to safeguard his anklet which is equipped with solutions to problems faced by humans in Kali Yugam. Just like Rao, Dr. Santanu Mukherjee (Adithya Menon) too is a part of a secret society and is interested in Lord Krishna’s anklet. However he has evil intentions in his mind.
Karthikeya (Nikhil Siddhartha) is a doctor from Hyderabad who believes in science and logic. To fulfil a vow made by his mother Tulasi years ago, he leaves for Dwaraka along with his mother and uncle Sadananda (Srinivasa Reddy) who is a devotee of Lord Krishna. One night, a wounded Rao meets Karthikeya to reveal something but is kidnapped before Karthikeya could treat him.
The following day his mother goes missing and Karthikeya is arrested by the police who accuse him of murder. He was rescues by Rao’s granddaughter Mugdha (Anupama Parameswaran). Meanwhile, a mysterious man attacks Karthikeya to kill him but stops when he sees the idol of Lord Krishna. They learn through a sage that man is Abheera (Venkatesh Mummudi) who is a member of an exiled cult that worships Lord Krishna. Their aim is to kill anyone who approaches Krishna’s belongings.
They visit Rao’s office in Bet Dwarka and read a letter written by him. Rao has found that Udhava had hidden the anklet in an unknown location, leaving clues to find it. Now his journey begins to find the anklet and that he has to fight the evil forces which are desperately trying to lay their hands on the anklet. Why is the anklet so important? Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on premiere day because not watched the previous film but after the reviews and appreciation watched this movie in cinemas and loved it.
A sequel to mystic thriller Karthikeya, which deals with the personal problems of Karthik and how he comes out of them. His pursuit of the truth leads him to find out the power of Indian ancient system and Tatva of Lord Sri Krishna.
Karthikeya 2 has an interesting story which is mythological, historical as well as adventurous. The screenplay also keeps us engaging as drama moves at a fast pace and therefore, it doesn’t bore. Dialogues are also interesting. While it’s odd that a lengthier runtime has been chosen this time around, with some scenes dragging unnecessarily, the film remains an engaging one for the most part. Where the film doesn’t work is when it gets too hammy and in-your-face with the fact that the characters believe Lord Krishna’s story isn’t just mythology, it’s in fact history. The attempt comes across as jarring, especially when two key characters suddenly change their tune by the end.
The interval block intersperses an action scene with a temple sermon. The format should have been used a couple of times in the second half to a scintillating effect. The film executes quite a few dangerous events without building a proper context. One too many times, the mood of this film is this: it’s either spirituality, science or skepticism on display. Movie is a worthy successor to Karthikeya minus the over-the-top. Watch this one if you’re a fan of the first film, you might just have to wait a while though to meet the curious adventurist again in Karthikeya 3. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
