IDFC First Bank T20I Series 2025: Team India registered their 8th consecutive series win after defeating South Africa by 30 runs in the 5th and final T20I at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

5th T20I (India Vs South Africa)
Game Date: 19th December 2025
Details:
South Africa skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to field first in the 5th and final T20I game against Team India at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Two changes in India’s playing XI and Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar included in the place of injured Shubman Gill and Axar Patel.

Team India scored huge 231/5 in their 20 overs after batting first. Win the toss, bat first, bat big – we’ve seen this trend in the IPL with the Gujarat Titans. Interestingly, the Proteas got carried away by the dew factor and chose to bowl. Now they have a mountain in front that’s 231 runs tall. Sure, it’s still chaseable but the tricky thing here is the new ball does a bit extra in the powerplay in the second innings and India have Arshdeep Singh who tortured the Proteas by swinging it both ways. Sanju and Abhishek set a great base with a 63-run opening stand. Tilak came in at 3 and showed great clarity with his shots. There was a phase where SA were trying to hit back. Linde got Sanju and SKY mishit a loft to mid-off. But enter Hardik swag Pandya. Stepped out first ball and smashed a flat six to make his intentions very clear. Suddenly India got 55 runs in 17 balls as Tilak too started teeing off again. Hardik was severe on Linde in one over as India muscled 27 runs with some stunning hits. He recorded the second fastest T20I fifty for India and the rest chipped in to extend the total beyond 230. Tilak Varma scored 73 runs of 42 balls and Hardik Pandya scored 63 runs of 25 balls. For South Africa, Corbin Bosch picked 2 wickets for 44 runs in his 3 overs.

South Africa failed to chase the target and scored 201/8 runs in their 20 overs and lost the game by 30 runs and series by 1-3. In the end, it turned out to be a comfortable win for India, though it certainly didn’t look that way at the halfway stage of the chase. Quinton de Kock gave South Africa a blazing start, matching India’s powerplay score and keeping the visitors firmly in the contest. Once Brevis joined him, the momentum really swung their way, the pair dismantled the bowling and powered the chase to 118 at the 10-over mark. That’s when SKY turned to his trump card: Jasprit Bumrah. And as he so often does, Bumrah delivered. He dismissed de Kock with a sharp return catch, triggering a collapse that saw South Africa lose 4 for 15, slipping from 120/1 to 135/5. Varun Chakaravarthy then joined the party with a 4-fer, but it was Bumrah’s spell that truly separated the two teams. In a high-scoring match, he finished with an astonishing 2 for 17 from his 4 overs. South Africa needed someone to steady the innings after losing de Kock and Brevis and to take the game deep, but no one was able to do that. India seized control and never let go. Quinton de Kock scored 65 of 35 balls and Dewald Brevis scored 31 runs of 17 balls. For Team India, Varun Chakaravarthy picked 4 wickets for 53 runs in his 4 overs quota.
