IDFC First Bank ODI Series 2023: Australia won the 3rd ODI but lost the series by 1-2 against India. They won the game by 66 runs at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

3rd ODI (India Vs Australia)
Game Date: 27th September 2023
Details:
Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first in the 3rd and final game of ODI series against Team India at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. Five changes in Team India and all senior player back in the playing XI.

Australia scored huge 352/7 in 50 overs after batting first. The highest ODI total on this ground but one feels Australia missed out on getting 400. Warner and Mitch Marsh started so well in the powerplay when the ball was hard and new. It came on well and the openers made the most of it. Warner after reaching 50 was feeling the effects of the heat and fell to Prasidh. Soon Mitch Marsh was joined by Smith and the duo strung a stand. But both batters again felt the heat of Rajkot and every over saw drinks being run out. Just before his 100, Marsh fell and then Siraj got Smith soon after. That and the soft ball slowed down the Australian innings. But Marnus carried on from there and even though wickets fell at the other end he continued to carry the team forward. India fought back and kept the total down to 352 when at one stage 400 and even more was a real possibility. A tall chase on the cards and it will be interesting to see how the Aussies bowl on this. Mitchell Marsh scored 96 runs of 84 balls and Steven Smith scored 74 runs of 61 balls. For Team India, Jasprit Bumrah picked 3 wickets for 81 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Team India unable to chase the target and bowled out for 286 runs in 49.4 and lost the game by 66 runs but won the series by 2-1. A consolation wins for Australia who also break their 5-match losing streak in ODIs. They will be happy with this – as this is the last ODI before the World Cup. India started the chase well with Rohit looking dangerous, but it was the unexpected off breaks of Maxwell which did the trick. He took the big wickets and finished with a four-fer to derail the chase. The Australian fielding and catching was outstanding with Marnus standing out in the deep. They did not allow anyone to go big and made the difference with lots of slower balls as the pitch slowed down a lot during the middle overs. Rohit, Kohli and Shreyas got scores, but they did not kick on and that proved to be costly. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 81 of 57 balls and Virat Kohli scored 56 runs of 61 balls. For Australia, Glenn Maxwell picked 4 wickets for 40 runs in his 10 overs quota.
