Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in free time as trailer looks has feel good actor with good star-cast.

With only three months left before government employee Sarla Joshi’s retirement, the family is leaving no stone unturned to build their family home. The Joshis prepare to build their own dream home from scratch, but it is not to be without tribulations.

Home Shanti picks up a bit slowly in the opening episode of the series. The jokes don’t land, the one-liners seem pretentious, and you don’t feel any affinity towards the characters on screen. But stay with it patiently, and Home Shanti grabs your attention from the next episode onwards. You slowly become invested in the characters, and their joys feel like your own. Each episode begins with a new subject to bicker over for the Joshi family members. Or a new concern regarding their dream home raises its head, causing them renewed consternation and worry. However, each issue is resolved in a breezy, light-hearted way at the end of the episode, leaving behind soothing satisfaction for the viewer. The sublime poetry at the start and end of each episode, recited in Manoj Pahwa’s soft dulcet voice, bookends each episode elegantly.

The highlight of this series is the beautiful words penned by the show’s writers that Manoj Pahwa’s poet character Umesh Joshi recites. Despite having seen this familiar setting, the web series lends a warm feeling of comfort as you get invested in the Joshi family’s quest of starting a new life post retirement. It celebrates the countless sacrifices Indian folks are habituated to making for their offspring, and their children, in turn, suppressing theirs to take the burden off the already heavy-lifting parents. Overall series strength lies in its simplicity, characters and no-frills attached treatment. However, it’s predictability may bog you down a bit but don’t miss it if you want to invest 3 hours in a breezy and relaxed watch. My View on this web-series Recommended.
