Hanuman Hindi Review: Unique superhero film with blend of sci-fi, fantasy and mythology

Just watched Hanuman movie in Hindi in Cinema. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Story: Movie revolves around Hanumanth (Teja Sajja) who lives his sister Anjamma (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) in the fictional Anjanadri which is a backward and undeveloped yet pristine village. loves Meenakshi (Amritha Aiyer) who also belongs to the same place.
Gajapathi (Raj Deepak Shetty) pretends to be the savior of the village from bandits, but he exercises control over the villagers. One day, Meenakshi revolts against Gajapathi, which makes the latter attack the former. While trying to save Meenakshi, Hanumanth lands in trouble. This is when Hanumanthu finds a precious stone through which he gets superpowers.
Michael (Vinay Rai) is another young man who has superhero powers and wants to know what gives Hanumanth the superhero strength so that he can usurp the same. Can Hanumanth stop Michael’s intentions and protect the Mani is all about this movie.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in Hindi on its release date as trailer looks good and big devotee of Lord Hanuman Ji.
The film follows Hanumanth, a small-time thief who turns into a superhero due to a powerful stone Mani. He uses these superpowers to protect his village Anjanadri from the evil forces. Villain Michael wants to possess this Mani and abuse these powers as Superhero. The film is the battle between good and evil i.e Hanumanth vs Michael.
Hanuman has an interesting and engaging story which is simple in nature borrows heavily from Indian mythology and adds a new dimension to it. The film is a blend of sci-fi, fantasy and mythology. However, these worlds blend into each other organically. With its deeply ingrained message of what constitutes a superhero, the film delivers an important message subtly and simultaneously also piques the interest of viewers to revisit the story of Hanuman from Indian mythology. The rendition of the Hanuman Chalisa plays out during a crucial scene and uplifts the film’s theme. The cinematography, editing and VFX are top notch despite the film’s budget being modest and deserve special mention for enhancing the narrative without overwhelming it, creating a visually engaging experience. Director Prasanth Varma’s universe is influenced by SS Rajamouli. The film cleverly pays tribute to the Baahubali director as well as heroes of Indian cinema. In fact, Prasanth doesn’t shy away from recognising the world of superheroes in his unique manner and the influence that superhero films have had on him.
The scenes in which Hanumanth uses his superpowers to defeat the evil men are particularly exciting. The scenes showing Lord Ram or Lord Hanuman aiding Hanumanth will draw rounds of applause from the audience. The comedy is also pretty entertaining. The scene in which Hanumanth learns about why his elder sister’s marriage is not being solemnized is very emotional. Lord Hanuman and his well-erected gigantic statue often arouses devotion. This is well-sustained till the end. The film nowhere turns boring. The audiences sit through the film where director succeeded. Having said, the final act is what changes the fate of Hanu Man. It is gripping and engaging to the core. The chants of Jai Shri Ram and Jai Hanuman give goosebumps in theatres. The movie concludes on a positive note, paving the way for a sequel titled “Jai Hanuman,” set to release in 2025.
On flipside, the first forty minutes of the film run on a flat note. Though the makers tried their best regarding visual effects, there is still a lot of room for improvement. A night sequence that comes in the first half lacks clarity as to what is happening, and the execution here isn’t up to the mark. It could have been crisper by about 20 minutes. The build-up takes longer than expected, as the initial portion has a major distraction in the form of the romantic track of the two leads. The film also has issues in the second half, when the story takes an unexpected route in the initial portions, but thankfully, there are enough moments in the final 20 minutes to make up for the off tracks in the narration. While the humor works for most of the parts, it does get over the top in certain sequences.
Overall movie is an engaging superhero film that is high on goosebumps-inducing moments. The last half an hour, ample number of high moments, and the humor are the biggest assets of the film. The film entertains with the right amount of drama, action, comedy, and devotional value. What holds attention apart from the vision of creating something magical is also the non-serious approach to the superhero tale. With solid storytelling, impressive visuals, and strong performances, the film successfully merges elements of mythology with contemporary action, offering a unique viewing experience in Indian cinema. My view on this movie Recommended.
