3rd T20I (India Vs West Indies)
Game Date: 2nd August 2022
Details:
Indian team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first in the 3rd T20I against West Indies at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. Deepak Hooda is playing in the place of Ravindra Jadeja.

West Indies scored 164/5 in their 20 overs after batting first. Mayers played the aggressor in what was a very good powerplay. Hooda and Bhuvi took the new ball and kept it very calm in the first two overs. But West Indies targetted Avesh to put pressure on India. 56/0 in 7 overs and Hardik got the visitors the breakthrough with a cutter. Pandya pulled off a brilliant spell of 4-0-19-1, while Ashwin pulled things back to end his spell nicely as a sedate Pooran struggled to get going. And West Indies got goign again with a 15-run over from Avesh. Bhuvi used his experience to get rid of Mayers and Pooran. Rohit trusted Avesh to bowl the 19th and he started brilliant well conceded just four singles and a wide off four legal balls. But with a predictable wide yorker line, Hetmyer spoiled Avesh’s fun with back to back sixes to make it a 17-run over. Arshdeep too tried to bow yorkers and conceded two fours, but got back to bowling cutters into the wicket to close out well. Kyle Mayers scored 73 runs of 50 balls and Rovman Powell scored 23 runs of 14 balls. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar pick 2 wickets for 35 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Team India chase down the target by scoring 165/3 in their 19 overs and won the game by 7 wickets. 165 seemed a challenging target at the halfway stage on a slowish pitch, but India have cruised home with an over to spare. All thanks to the genius of one man. What a brilliant knock that was from Suryakumar Yadav. He got the chase off to a flier and kicked on to showcase his range again. He batted on a different level to most others out there today. That lofted straight drive for six off a back of a length on a pitch where a lot of players struggled to time the ball said a lot about the touch, he was in. And by the time he was gone, India were already at the doorstep of victory. Suryakumar Yadav scored 76 of 44 balls and Rishabh Pant scored 33* runs of 26 balls. For West Indies, Dominic Drakes, Holder & Akeal Hosein picks 1 wicket each.
