Team India scored bowled out for 138 runs in 19.4 overs after batting first. India’s achilles heel against left-arm seam has been exposed once again, as Obed McCoy had a gala day out at Warner Park. He picked up the skipper off the very first delivery, and also dismissed Suryakumar Yadav in his next over. For the visitors, a few players got starts and played some entertaining cameos but they missed a guy who could bat through the innings, and when the DK finish too didn’t arrive, they are pretty below par on this surface. Akeal Hosein and Jason Holder kept things tight in the middle overs for West Indies, with both bowlers going at under six an over. Then, McCoy came back to pick up four more wickets at the death, ending with career best figures of 6/17. Hardik Pandya scored 31 runs of 31 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scored 27 runs of 30 balls. West Indies chase down the target by scoring 141/5 in their 19.2 overs and won the game by 5 wickets. It may have taken three hours for the luggage to arrive and for the cricket to start, but when it did, it sure was fun. On one of those typically Caribbean pitches with the ball stopping around, the West Indies have beaten Indian in a T20I for the first time in three years. And these two teams play a lot. Devon Thomas, after scratching around for 11 off his first 13 balls, has turned things around, and how. WI, given the start King and Pooran gave them, had absolutely no business taking it this close. But thanks to some neat middle-overs bowling from Jadeja, Ashwin and Pandya, along with Arshdeep doing a superb job at the death, a twist came, and choke nearly did too. Rohit’s decision of not turning to Bhuvneshwar was quite a head-scratcher. Brandon King scored 68 of 52 balls and Devon Thomas scored 31* runs of 19 balls. For Team India, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Jadeja, Pandya & Ashwin picks 1 wicket each.
