Goldmedal T20I Cup 2022: Team India won the series by 4-1 against West Indies at Lauderhill, Florida. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

5th T20I (India Vs West Indies)
Game Date: 67th August 2022
Details:
Team India stand-in captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first in the 5th and final T20I against West Indies at Lauderhill, Florida. Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya. is playing in the place of Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rohit Sharma.

Team India scored 188/7 in their 20 overs after batting first. A challenging total by the visitors on a slightly two-paced surface. Only 47 runs off the last 30 balls, which included a 19-run penultimate over and West Indies will be happy with the damage control that they’ve managed. It’s still a competitive total though despite the small ground dimensions. The surface wasn’t the easiest to hit through the line although the wind factor played a part in the power-hitting. Hooda and Iyer set the platform with a fine partnership, and India were set for a score in excess of 200 at that stage. But both of them fell in rather quick succession and West Indies managed to pull things back nicely. Despite getting a bit of stick in this final over, Holder was fantastic for a major part of his spell and if not for those hits from Hardik, India would have underachieved significantly in their batting effort. An above-par total this, and India will be confident of defending it. But as mentioned earlier, on a small ground with the wind factor, the chasing side is not out of it just yet. Shreyas Iyer scored 64 runs of 40 balls and Deepak Hooda scored 38 runs of 25 balls. For West Indies, Odean Smith picks 3 wickets for 33 runs in his 4 overs quota.

West Indies unable to chase the target and bowled out for 100 runs in 15.4 overs and lost the game by 88 runs. Quite the no contest this. This series has been like one of those action films where everything just seems so mundane, so repetitive. West Indies were never in this chase to be frank. Yes, Hetmyer got on a roll briefly, hitting a flurry of sixes but none of the other batters seemed ready to put on a fight. Some of the dismissals were downright silly and amateurish. West Indies’ eternal problem against spin came to the fore once again, and they clearly had no proper plan to counter India’s spin trio. Axar set the ball rolling, Kuldeep followed it up and Bishnoi finished things off in a hurry. 188 was always an above-par score on this surface but wasn’t impossible by any means. It’s just that West Indies batted with zero clarity. Take the move to open with Holder for instance. That was one of the many eyebrow-raising moments that the hosts created today. Clearly, the coach and the think tank will have to have a proper talking down to the batters. On the other hand, another cruising win for India who have hardly been tested on this tour at all. Shimron Hetmyer scored 56 of 35 balls and Shamarh Brooks scored 13 runs of 13 balls. For Team India, Ravi Bishnoi pick 4 wickets for 16 runs in his 2.4 overs.
