Eternals Movie Rating: 2 Stars

Just watched Eternals movie in Theatre in Hindi language. So let’s focus on the cast, release date story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie
Director: Chloé Zhao
Release Date: 5th Novemner 2021 in cinemas

Story: It is the story of an immortal alien race on the Earth for a purpose. 7000 years ago, the Celestial Arishem created the Eternal who are the immortal human beings like creatures, and sent them to Earth. These Eternals include Sersi (Gemma Chan), Ikaris (Richard Madden), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Sprite (Lia McHugh), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Ajak (Salma Hayek) and Thena (Angelina Jolie).

Their purpose is to save the planet from monstrous creatures called the Deviants. The Eternals arrive on the Earth in the year 5000 BC in Mesopotamia and manage to defeat the Deviants. They then live through the progress of human civilization and even give a push to mankind in various ways using their superpowers. Among the Eternals, only Ajak is the one who has the ability to establish contact with Arishem.

In the present day, Sersi and Sprite live together in London. Sersi left by partner Ikaris more than 500 years earlier is in a relationship with Dane Whitman (Kit Harington). Ikaris appears and saves Sersi, Sprite and Dane from a Deviant. Ikaris and Sersi then decide to reunite all Eternals in order to be prepared to face the renewed danger. They decide to contact Ajak in South Dakota, USA hoping that she’d have an idea. Shockingly, when they reach her place, they find her dead.

Ajak had given Sersi the ability to communicate with Arishem. Celestial reveals that the primary mission of the Eternals was not to fight the Deviants but to prepare Earth for The Emergence. Arishem explains that for millions of years, the Celestials have been planting their seeds in populated planets so that a new Celestial can be born from them. Since the energy of a lot of individuals was required for the formation of a new Celestial, the Celestials sent the Deviants to destroy the top predators of the planet and thereby ensure the development of life.

However, the Deviants evolved and themselves became top predators which is why the Eternals were sent to fight them. Arishem further explains that Earth had now reached the necessary population so that the Emergence is the birth of the Celestial Tiamut and the resultant destruction of the planet can take place. The Eternals, who’ve learned to love humanity, decide not to obey Arishem’s orders and instead prevent the Emergence. However, not all Eternals agree with Phastos creation of the Uni-Mind which is a connection between all Eternals to unite their powers so that Tiamut can be put to sleep. Will they able to stop this emergence is all about the story.

Positives
1. Performances
2. Story
3. Direction

Negatives
1. Length
2. Slow Screenplay
3. Climax

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in theatre as I am big fan of Marvel films and this looks difference from their previous outings.

Eternals starts on a rocking note. The entry scene of each main character is sure to be greeted with whistles and claps. The London episode is entertaining. The death of Ajak comes as a jolt. The scene where Sersi, Ikaris and Sprite reach India to meet Kingo is sure to bring the house down, especially among the audiences in our country. story is interesting with new superhero are coming to save the earth after Avengers. The film is a bit confusing and also the pace is slow. At places, the writing also tends to drag.

The final fight has its share of thrill and adrenaline rush but could have been more powerful. The scene after the climax fight also drags the film. The mid-credit scene is interesting while the post-credit scene will leave viewers bewildered. My view on this movie Recommended only if you are big Marvel Studios movie fans.
