Four foreign players of KXIP for this game was Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Steve Smith.. One change in playing XI and they have included Varun Aaron in place of Ankit Rajpoot.
Kings XI Punjab scores 185/4 in their 20 overs which is good total on this ground. Things could have been different for RR had they not given Gayle two lives, but Gayle took his chances wisely for most parts. Tewatia was teasing him but he held his composure on occasions and got lucky once. Rahul as usual laid a good platform after Mandeep got a nasty short ball first up from Archer. RR tried but couldn’t break the 120-run stand untill Stokes provided the magic. Pooran came in and played only like he could. Cricket balls were airborne beyond the rope but Stokes managed to eke him out with one such hit at the fence. Tyagi did get his yorkers right for a good part, but Gayle managed to send a few over the boundary and they scored 62 runs in last 5 overs. Chris Gayle scored 99 of 63 balls and KL Rahul scored 46 of 41 balls. For RR Archer and Stokes picks 3 wickets each.

Rajasthan Royals have been brutal with the bat. Reminded of the way they batted at the start of the tourney. So much of oomph pretty much throughout the batting order. Stokes set the tone, Samson took the baton forward and the Smith-Buttler partnership cruised through at the last bend. RR had a tall order ahead of them but their fearless approach set the base for a win tonight. This means the fourth team qualifying can go through with 14 points as well. Their NRR has got a minor face lift as well thanks to an early finish. The dew made it easier? Tough to say but can’t take any credit away from the RR team. They set the tone from ball one and never relented. The trial by spin was also dealt well as the rate didn’t come down much in the middle overs. Ben Stokes scored 50 runs 26 balls and Sanju Samson scored 48 in 25 balls. For KXIP Ashwin and Jordan picks 1 wicket each.

Man of the Match: Ben Stokes
Durgesh Tiwary’s View : Congratulations to RR for stunning run chase and win. They were excellent with the ball except death over but still wicket was very good and 186 run target was good but tough as same team beat MI by chasing 196 runs. Ben stokes does the wonders for them with bowl and the bat and good support from middle order ensures a good win. They surely have momentum with them now as it is sure that one team will qualify for the play-offs with 14 wins and if they win last game by good margin then they have good chances.
For KXIP batting was very good despite losing the wicket of Mandeep in very first over. Rahul and Gayle were brilliant and they finished their innings very well but it’s bowlers who let them down and this happens many times in this season. Batsmen score runs but bowlers unable to defend except few games. Now they really need to beat CSK in their last game with good margin for their chances for play-offs as now 4 teams are contenders with same points and net run rate will play crucial role.
