Coolie No.1 Movie Review: It failed to match the expectation of original due to shoddy writing, mediocre performance and direction

Just watched Coolie No.1 movie on Amazon Prime Video. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Story: It is the remake of the producer’s earlier Coolie No. 1 (1995) which itself was a remake of Tamil film Chinna Mapillai.
Matchmaker Pandit Jai Kishan (Jaaved Jaffery) is insulted by a rich business man Jeffery Rosario (Paresh Rawal) for bringing a ‘bus-travelling’ family for his daughter’s marriage. Utterly pissed off with the treatment, the Pandit vows to teach Rosario a lesson. The Pandit sets up a plan and gets Rosario’s daughter Sarah (Sara Ali Khan) married to Raju coolie (Varun Dhawan) in the guise of a billionaire.
Meanwhile, Raju is already smitten by Sarah after having a glance at her photograph. Hell-bent on seeking revenge from Rozario, Jai Kishen convinces Raju Coolie to woo Sarah by posing as a billionaire, Raja Kunwar Mahendra Pratap Singh. The greedy Rozaria falls prey to Jai Kishen-Raju Coolie’s conspiracy and ends up getting his daughter married to Raju. On the other hand, sparks fly between Raju’s mechanic friend Deepak (Sahil Vaid) and Sarah’s sister Anju (Shikha Talsania).
When a series of incidents threaten to blow Raju’s cover, he cooks up a story about having a estranged twin which leads to comedy of errors.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : > I have watched the original movie but still after watching the trailer of this movie wanted to watch due to same director, big names associated with it and most important trailer looks amazing.
But films fail to impress neither with it’s story or director. Even lead actor and actress Varun and Sara unable to match the charm of Govinda and Karishma Kapoor. The story rests on the premise that all characters in the drama, other than Raju, are idiots who don’t question anything in life and lack basic common sense.
If you have watched original movie then don’t watch it but if you have some sort of time in your weekends to spent with your family with a light comedy without any expectation then you can watch it. My view Skip It.
