In this post, I am sharing the Confirmed list of Movies and Web-Series releasing in January 2022 on OTT and Cinemas. Now situation is again worst day by day as third wave of Covid-19 is around the corner and now cinemas are getting closed in multiple cities. The release dates of Two big films Jersey and RRR are postponed in no time and in coming days many films can be postponed. The Bollywood calendar got almost packed till next year but seems that again date changes are certain to happen.
However, there are still many films whose announcements are yet to happen and in this case again producers may choose OTT for their movie release. For audiences OTT platforms are like a cinema halls after the lockdown, they are enjoying different contents in form of movies and web-series on different platforms. It will double bonanza for audiences as they can watch the films on OTT as well as cinemas of their choice.
Here I am sharing entire list of movies and web-series releasing this month on OTT and Theatres:
1. Kaun Banegi Shikharwati (Web-Series)
Release date: 7th January 2022 (Zee5 Premium)
Cast: Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra and Anya Singh
Director: Gauravv Chawla
Details: An erstwhile king of a dysfunctional family devises an outlandish plan to bring his estranged daughters back together. While the princesses’ hearts begin to slowly melt, an income tax investigation looms on the palace’s apparently hidden ‘fortune’ treasure. Will he succeed?
2. Cubicles Season 2 (Web-Series)
Release date: 7th January 2022 (Sony LIV)
Cast: Abhishek Chauhan, Jaimini Pathak, Ayushi Gupta and Nidhi Bisht
Director: Chaitanya Kumbhakonum
Details: The show revolves around a first jobber Piyush and the people around him. Each episode deals with a different situation like the first day at the office, first salary, etc.
3. Campus Diaries (Web-Series)
Release date: 7th January 2022 (MX Player)
Cast: Harsh Beniwal, Ritvik Sahore, Saloni Gaur, Salonie Patel, Abhinav Sharma and Srishti Ganguli Rindani
Director: Prem Mistry and Abhishek Yadav
Details: It is a coming-of-age drama of six students at Excel University. But this one is so-not-your-regular-college-drama because it goes beyond the routine masti and dosti plots that quintessential youth dramas portray and tackles relevant yet lesser discussed issues like ragging, discrimination based on societal biases, one sided love stories, rampant drug abuse and toxic relationships that mould your personality and ready you to face the real world.
4. Ranjish Hi Sahi (Web-Series)
Release date: 13th January 2022 (Voot Select)
Cast: Tahir Raj Bhasin, Amrita Puri and AmalacPaul
Director: Pushpdeep Bhardwaj

5. Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (Web-Series)
Release date: 14th January 2022 (Netflix)
Cast: Tahir Raj Bhasin, Shweta Tripathi, Saurabh Gupta and Anchal Singh
Director: Sidharth Sengupta

6. Pusha Hindi (Movie)

Details: The first of two cinematic parts, the film depicts the rise of a coolie in the smuggling syndicate of red sanders, a rare wood that grows only in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh state.

Details: Series is based on true story that shook the nation’s conscience and it deals with the medical world threat of human drug testing.
8. Bhaukaal 2 (Web-Series)
Release date: 20th January 2022 (MX Player)
Cast: Mohit Raina, Bidita Bag, Siddhanth Kapoor, Pradeep Nagar, Gulki Joshi, Ajay Singh Chaudhary and Rashmi Rajput
Director: Jatin Wagle

Director: Ruchir Arun, Nupur Asthana, Shikha Makan, Ayappa KM and Nagraj Manjule
Details: The anthology showcases five unique stories that provide a window into how the Covid-19 pandemic has changed us, making us value life and emotions more than ever. Trailer/Teaser of this series is not released yet.
11. Kapil Sharma I Am Not Done Yet (Stand up Special)
Release date: 28th January 2022 (Netflix)
Details: Being in the entertainment industry and bringing laughter to millions across India for so long, one would think they knew every side to India’s best comedian, Kapil Sharma. But there are still things people don’t know about the master of laughter and he’s here to reveal everything in a heartfelt special
NOTE: I have removed Radhe Shyam, Valimai, Prithviraj and The Kashmir Files from the list as they are already postponed because cinemas are shutting down in multiple states due to increasing case of Covid-19. Although there is no update on this month last release Attack but high chances are it will also postponed.
Durgesh Tiwary’s View : In my view Pushpa Hindi and 36 Farmhouse are the only movies releasing this month so there is no much choice. In web-series there are multiple releases and I am looking forward for Bhaukaal 2 and Yeh Kaali Kaalo Ankhein. What’s your top picks among all movies and web series.
