In this post, I am sharing the Confirmed list of Movies and Web-Series releasing in August 2022 on OTT and Cinemas. After a very long time in this month, we have least number of releases in both cinemas and OTT. There are chances that in coming days some more movie/series may be scheduled for release.
However, there are still many films whose announcements are yet to happen and, in this case again producers are choosing OTT for their movie release. For audiences OTT platforms are like a cinema hall after the lockdown, they are enjoying different contents in form of movies and web-series on different platforms. It will double bonanza for audiences as they can watch the films on OTT as well as cinemas of their choice.
Here I am sharing entire list of movies and web-series releasing this month on OTT and Theatres:
1. The Great Wedding of Munnes (Web-Series)
Release date: 4th August 2022 on Voot Select
Cast: Abhishek Banerjee, Barkha Singh, Vimal Lahoti, Aakash Dabhade and Sunita Rajwar
Director: Sunil Subramani
Details: The ten-episode series is based on the simple premise of Munnes’ innocent pursuit to find his happily ever after. He falls in love with the stunning ‘sarv gunn sampurn’ Mahi and cannot believe his luck when she makes the first move. Just when the show starts resembling a mushy romantic classic and everything seems to be in place, a pandit’s prophecy adds a whole new horror twist to this love story

2. Darlings (Movie)
Release date: 5th August 2022 on Netflix
Cast: Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew
Director: Jasmeet K Reen
Details: Film revolves around a South Mumbai mother-daughter duo who kidnaps the latter’s abusive husband. Badru is a strong-minded woman and her mother decide to take matters in her own hands when it comes to Badru’s husband Hamza.
3. Crash Course (Web-Series)
Release date: 5th August 2022 on Amazon Prime Video
Cast: Annu Kapoor, Bhanu Uday, Pranay Pachauri, Riddhi Kumar, Anushka Kaushik, Hridhu Haroon, Mohit Solanki, Bhavesh Balchandani, Udit Arora, Bidita Bag, Aryan Singh, Hetal Gada, Anvesha Vij and Siddharth Kak

Details: It a drama series that follows the life of eight new students who have come to study in Kota’s two biggest, rival coaching institutes. The Ratanraj Jindal vs. Arvind Batra rivalry is an old one. They are the owners of the top institutes, hell-bent upon finishing the other to gain complete control of the education business in Kota. Their no-holds-barred rivalry is akin to a chess game. The pawns in this game, are the students and the teachers. The 8 core students Anil, Sathya, Aviral, Rakesh, Vidhi, Shanaya, Tejal and Nikki, represent the half a million that throng the city of Kota every year with their dreams and ambitions. Their student life is full of fun and camaraderie in the beginning but slowly the pressures and the competition intensify. The show follows the journey of these students as they find friendship, experience first love, heartbreaks, peer pressure, and lose the innocence of youth. As the two drastically different worlds of the students and the coaching institute owners collide, there is pandemonium. The stakes are raised, motives clash and lives are put at risk.
4. Rashtra Kavach Om (Movie)

Director: Kapil Verma
Details: Om is the story of a special forces Para commando officer on a mission to save his country and finding answers to questions that have clouded his entire existence. This adrenaline pumping action thriller blends personal sacrifice with valor of a patriot who stops at nothing when it comes to protecting his country.
5. Raksha Bandhan (Movie)
Release date: 11th August 2022 in Cinemas
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Srikanth
Director: Aanand L Rai
Details: Lala Kedarnath, the eldest and only brother of 4 sisters, runs a chaat shop that was started by his father. Lala promises his frail mother on her deathbed that he will get married only after he fulfills the responsibility of marrying his sisters into suitable homes first. What follows is Lala’s relentless efforts of getting his sisters married while upholding his family values. At the same time, Lala also faces hiccups on the personal front, his romantic life with his childhood love Sapna. However, Lala’s commitment to his sisters stands as a huge roadblock for his and Sapna’s love story to take off. Understanding the importance of Lala’s vow, Sapna decides to wait till his goal is achieved.
6. Laal Singh Chaddha (Movie)

Details: Events in India’s history unfold through the perspective of Laal Singh Chaddha, a dim-witted man who has an understanding of emotions.
7. She-Hulk (Web-Series)
Release date: 18th August 2022 on Disney Plus Hotstar
Cast: Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth and Benedict Wong in the lead roles and Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Jon Bass
Director: Jessica Gao
Details: It is intended to be the eighth television series in the MCU sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. It follows Jennifer Walters, a lawyer specializing in cases involving superhumans, who also becomes the green superhero She-Hulk. Gao serves as head writer with Kat Coiro leading the directing team.
8. Dobaaraa (Movie)
Release date: 19th August 2022 in Cinemas
Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Saswata Chatterjee and Rahul Bhat
Director: Anurag Kashyap
Details: It is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage. The story revolves around how a woman gets the opportunity to save the life of a 12-year-old boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm, which happened 25 years ago, by getting connected through the television set during a similar storm in the present.
9. Duranga (Web-Series)
Release date: 19th August 2022 on Zee5 Premium
Cast: Drashti Dhami, Gulshan Devaiah, Rajesh Khattar, Divya Sheth, Zakir Hussain, Barkha Bisht, Abhijit Khandkekar and Hera Mishra
Director: Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan
Details: Duranga chronicles the love story of Sammit and Ira that unfolds in three different timelines. Hiding a twisted past, Sammit maintains a facade of a perfect husband to his Inspector wife Ira. With a series of twists and turns, Ira begins investigating multiple gory copycat murders by the suspected accomplice of a psychopathic serial killer Bala, twenty years after his suicide. This case leads her to some shocking revelations about her husband.
10. Sherdil (Movie)
Release date: 24th June 2022 In Cinemas and Digital premiere on Netflix from 24th August 2022
Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Sayani Gupta and Neeraj Kabi
Director: Srijit Mukherji
Details: It is an insightful story about the adverse effects of urbanization, man-animal conflict and poverty leading to a bizarre practice in a village that resides on the edge of a forest.
11. Maharani 2 (Web-Series)
Release date: 25th August 2022 on Sony LIV
Cast: Huma Qureshi, Amit Sial, Sohum Shah, Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, Kani Kusruti, Anuja Sathe, Neha Chauhan, Sushil Pandey and Dibyendu Bhattacharya

Details: CM Rani Bharti is back to fight a political battle against her husband Bheema Bharti. As violence increases in the state, she vows to tackle the goons.
12. Liger (Movie)
Release date: 25th August 2022 in Cinemas

Director: Puri Jagannadh
Details: This is debut Bollywood movie for the actor in which he is playing the titular MMA fighter boxer.
13. Samaritan (Movie)
Release date: 26th August 2022 on Amazon Prime Video
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Javon Walton, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias.

Details: A young boy comes to the realization that a famed superhero, who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty-five years ago, may in fact still be around.
14. Criminal Justice Season 3 (Web-Series)
Release date: 26th August 2022 on Disney Plus Hotstar
Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Purab Kohli, Gaurav Gera, Swastika Mukherjee and Shweta Basu Prasad

Details: This season we see Madhav Mishra come face-to-face with a strong-willed lawyer Lekha who keeps him on his toes constantly.
14. Delhi Crime 2 (Web-Series)

Cast: Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal and Rajesh Tailang
Director: Richie Mehta
Details: A terrifying menace has taken Delhi by surprise. Is the Delhi Police prepared to take on this new threat.
