Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on premiere day because loved the trailer with a impactful social message.
Set in Karnal, the film is about Sanya Dhingra, a female unemployed chemistry genius, who is, looking for a job and at the same time she uses her skills to fight an important societal taboo of educating the youth about Sex Education.
Chhatriwali story story is a bit similar to Janhit Mein Jaari. But in the second half, it’s quite different and blends entertainment and social message organically. The film is peppered with some entertaining and touching moments and keeps the viewers engaged. Direction is very good. Thanks to his execution, viewers get invested in the storyline and would root for Sanya though she lies to her family and in-laws about her work. The track of Nisha is novel and helps in putting the message across in a far impactful manner. The manner in which Rajan quickly completes explaining the sex education chapter to students is very realistic.
It is not enough if the point taken is good, but it also needs to be told engagingly. Apart from a few scenes, the film remains boring for the most part. The bland writing and tedious moments reduce the impact as a whole. The first half, in particular, is patience-testing. Nothing happens effectively here, nor does the first hour has any good moments. The love track enhances the boredom, and more care should have been taken to set up the story properly. Like many recent films, the movie is completely predictable.
The core point chosen is good but engaging narration was the need of the hour. Overall, movie manages to entertain and is also able to convey a strong message with impact despite a few odds. It is a light-hearted film that is predictable and could have been packaged and delivered more creatively and uniquely. My view on this movie Recommended
