Australia Won Pink Ball Test-cricketmovie.com

Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: Emphatic victory for Australia in Pink Ball Test against Team India. They won the 2nd Test by 10 wickets and level the series 1-1 with 3 more test to go at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.

1st Test
Game Date: 6th December – 10th December 2024

Now I am going to share day-to-day activity of this test match with all the details, records and milestones in my way.

Day 1
Team India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss against Australia and decided to bat first in the 2nd Test at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. 3 changes for India and Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill & Ravichandran Ashwin is playing today in the place of Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar.

Team India bowled out for just 180 runs in their 1st innings after opting to bat first. Starc leads his team off the field as he raises the ball. He absolutely loves bowling with the new ball. Struck with the very first ball of the Test by trapping Jaiswal lbw with an outswinger. Rahul and Gill looked in decent touch as they forged a fifty stand. That’s when the left-arm speedster came back to remove KL and Kohli in quick succession. India slipped from 69/1 to 81/4 within 20 minutes. Rohit didn’t last long after the tea break, Pant got a brute of a delivery from Cummins and that’s when India decided to counterattack. Ashwin’s run-a-ball cameo was ended by Starc who picked two quick wickets with his in-swinging Yorkers to claim his fourth fifer in pink-ball Tests. Nitish Reddy, like in the Perth Test, played an array of shots and top-scored with a quickfire 42 to take his team’s total to 180. There’s been enough movement in the air and off the deck to keep the bowlers excited. Batting in the twilight session won’t be easy. Nitish Reddy scored 42 runs and KL Rahul scored 37 runs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc picked 6 wickets.

Australia scored 86/1 on Day 1 stumps. They are still trailing by 94 runs with 9 wickets in hand. Even after skittling out India for 180, Australia would have been under some sort of pressure as they had to bat under lights in the final session. While the Indian bowlers got more seam and swing movement than their counterparts in the first 10 overs, they weren’t attacking the stumps enough to trouble the batters. The bowling was disciplined but the Aussies were happy to leave most deliveries outside off. McSweeney got a reprieve on 1 and Bumrah provided the breakthrough when he had Khawaja caught at 1st slip. That turned out to be the only wicket of the session as Labuschagne and McSweeney batted patiently. The deficit is under 100, nine wickets still in hand and day two is generally the best day to bat at the Adelaide Oval. Australia on top at the moment. Can they cash in? Or will India make a comeback?

Day 2
Australia bowled out for 337 runs in their 1st innings. They take a healthy first innings lead of 157 and will have a go at the Indian batters under lights. After bowling out India for 180 yesterday, two contrasting knocks has put Australia in a very good position in this Test match. An under-pressure Labuschagne registered a gritty fifty while Travis Head – playing at his home ground – was at his aggressive best to score 140 off just 141 deliveries. Bumrah was India’s best bowler once again as he picked four wickets. Four for Siraj as well who was unlucky in the first session. Rana was taken to the cleaners as he struggled for accuracy. We saw Marnus and McSweeney blunt the pink-ball threat under lights yesterday with some superb defensive batting. Let’s find out how India fare. Travis Head scored 140 runs and Marnus Labuschagne scored 64 runs. For Team India, Jasprit Bumrah & Siraj picked 4 wickets each.

Team India scored 128/5 runs in their 2nd innings on Day 2 stumps. They are still trailing by 29 runs with 5 wickets in hand. Excellent day for Australia. Marnus Labuschagne started from where he left yesterday and fought hard to get back into form as he scored a gritty fifty. The bowling was tight from Bumrah and Siraj in the opening hour and the former picked up a couple of wickets. Travis Head received an incredible reception from the Adelaide crowd when he walked out to bat and the left-hander didn’t disappoint the fans. He got off to a slightly scratch start but once he got his eye in, the runs came at a quick pace. His entertaining knock of 140 resulted in the hosts taking a healthy 157-run lead. Post that, the Aussies were relentless with the pink ball under lights. Just the three main speedsters were used, Boland and Cummins picked two wickets apiece while Starc cleaned up Gill with a lovely inswinger. India are well behind the eight-ball as they still trail by 29 runs and just five wickets in hand. Pant has been adventurous with five audacious boundaries. For India to even be competitive, he and young Nitish have to bat out of their skins. For now, Australia are mighty favourites to wrap up the match and level the series 1-1.

Day 3
Team India bowled out for just 175 runs in their 2nd innings. Right then, Australia needs mare 19 runs to level the series. Starc removed Pant in the very first over of the day and then Cummins used the short ball ploy to claim a fifer. Boland, the third seamer, wrapped up the innings. For India, once again Nitish Reddy top-scored but he found little support at the other end. This should be a cakewalk for the Aussies. Nitish Reddy scored 42 runs and Shubman Gill scored 28 runs. For Australia, skipper Pat Cummins picked 5 wickets.

Australia scored 19/0 without any wicket and won the 2nd test by 10 wickets. Commanding win from Australia. They were under severe pressure coming into this Test with some even calling this game a era-defining one for this current generation of cricketers. And boy have they responded in style or what. They were asked to bowl first after losing the toss and Mitchell Starc got them off to a dream start by getting Jaiswal LBW first-ball of the game and from there they never looked back. India were bowled out for 180 as Starc took a 6-fer. And then batting in the difficult twilight period in the evening, McSweeney and Marnus weathered the conditions and ensured Australia were just one-down when stumps were called. Day 2 began in bright sunshine and even though India took early wickets, the local boy – Travis Head made a blistering 140 to wow the packed Adelaide crowd on a Saturday. He got help from Marnus who was battling for his place ahead of the game. He batted as well as he ever has before a fine catch by Jaiswal sent him back. The innings from Head helped Australia gain a healthy lead of 157. Then bowling in the twilight period under the pink ball, Australia all but sealed the game with five wickets as once again the Indian batting crumbled. The rest of the formalities were completed today as they won with 10 wickets chasing down 19.
