KKR won in super over-Cricketmovie.com

DreDream11 IPL Match 35: KKR won the game in super over against SRH. Now I will share the details of this IPL game match in my way.

35th Game (Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Game Date: 18th Oct 2020
Details:
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner won the toss and elected to field first in the 35th game of IPL 2020. SRH included Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan and David Warner as four foreign players for this game. Two change in the playing XI. They have included Basil Thampi and Abdul Samad in place of Shahbaz Nadeem and Khaleel Ahmed.

Four foreign players of KKR for this game was Andre Russell, Lockie Ferguson, Pat Cummins and Eoin Morgan. Two changes in SRH playing squad as well and today Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav is playing in place of Prasidh Krishna and Chris Green.

Kolkata Knight Riders did start off briskly, but were hamstrung by the dot ball percentage, most notably that of Gill who failed to kick on after he was dropped on one. Rana looked the most fluent, but he too threw it away after building a nice momentum. The promotion of Russell once again failed, but it also acted as a blessing in disguise for the KKR side as their best finishers squeezed the most of the death overs giving something for their bowlers to defend what looks like a par score. But Karthik and Morgan used the death overs brilliantly and scored 42 runs off the last 3 overs. Shubman Gill scored 36 of 37 balls and Eoin Morgan scored 34 of 23 balls. For SRH T Natarajan picks 2 wickets for 40 runs in his 4 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad started well with Bairstow and Williamson (promoted to open) taking partnership to 58 runs, but Lockie Ferguson, playing in his first match, struck twice to derail the chase. Warner stood firm even as wickets tumbled at the other end but he stayed till the end to enforce a super-over. At one time SRH needed 18 from the final over. But then Morgan had the choice of either Kuldeep or a limping Russell to bowl the 20th. He went for the latter and it nearly backfired big time and Warner took him for three boundaries, but couldn’t apply the finishing touches. With 2 needed from the last ball, they sneaked in a leg-bye and didn’t show any inclination to at least attempt the second run. Not sure what could be the reason. David Warner scored 47* runs 33 balls and Jonny Bairstow scored 36 in 28 balls. For KKR Lockie Ferguson picks 3 wickets for 15 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Super Over
From KKR side Lockie Ferguson bowled the super over and bowled Warner and Samad by giving just 2 runs.

From SRH side Rashid Khan bowls the super over and KKR chased down the target easily.

KKR: 163/5 in 20 overs
SRH: 163/6 in 20 overs

Result: Match Tied
Kolkata Knight Riders won super over
Man of the Match: Lockie Ferguson

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : Congratulations to KKR for this win after defeat against MI in last game. Hat’s off to Lockie Ferguson for brilliant bowling in super over and win the game for team. They have inches closer to qualify for the playoffs and this game will sure boost the confidence of this team. They just need to maintain the momentum.

For SRH bowling is still the biggest concern and they are badly missing the service of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is out of this season due to injury. Till 16th over SRH had total control on the game but death bowling didn’t work for them and today even their key bowlers given away plenty of runs. Batting was also poor from middle orders after a good start from openers. Still not sure why Warner didn’t try for double in the last ball when 2 needed. Now they need to win all their 5 games to qualify for the play offs and they way they are playing is seems very tough.
