Just watched Kuttey movie on Netflix. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Story: Movie s the story of a few individuals who are eyeing a bank van carrying crores of rupees, like hungry dogs would eye their food. A bank van is transporting tons of money from one point to another. Unknown to the others, three different groups want to usurp the crores of rupees from the van. Each individual or group wants the money for different reasons.
Gopal (Arjun Kapoor) and Paaji (Kumud Mishra) are police officers. They need money to get out of a terrible situation they’ve landed themselves in. Their senior officer Pammi (Tabu) is thirsting for the money because she wants to improve her standard of living.
Lovely (Radhika Madan) is the daughter of underworld don Narayan Khobre (Naseeruddin Shah) and wants to lay her hands on the crores so that she can spend the rest of her life with Danny Dandekar (Shardul Bhardwaj) who incidentally works for her father.
There is also Laxmi (Konkona Sen Sharma) who leads a group of Communist rebels who are on the run. Who finally gets the money, and what happens to the others is what the crux of the story is all about.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on digital premiere instead of theatre as it looks good in parts only.
A van carrying crores of cash. One rainy night in the outskirts of Mumbai. Unaware of each other, three stray gangs cross paths on the hunt. Unfortunately, all of them have the same plan.
Kuttey has an interesting story but one which moves on a single track. Although the story has layers in the sense that there are different groups at work, the objective of all the three groups is to lay their hands on the crores of rupees being transported from one point to another. Screenplay is very interesting, and it has been written in such a way that there is a lot of back and forth in the drama. This makes the drama interesting. What lifts the film constantly dark and gritty narrative is the catchy iconic composition Dhan te Nan that lingers in the background.
On the flipside, a few plot points are never explained and even forgotten. The character of Narayan Khorbe gets a raw deal and disappears after a point. The same goes for Surti. Viewers never come to know who Lovely’s fiancé is and moreover, an important scene involving her and Danny, which was shown in the trailer, has been edited out. Also, it’s bewildering how such a huge contingent of Maoists are loitering close to Mumbai. Again, the writer-director didn’t feel the need to inform viewers what they were doing in that area. Moreover, this was supposed to be a dark comedy, but there’s very limited humor. Even the thrill and tension are missing. On the other hand, there’s a lot of violence and abuse, due to which its appeal will be limited.
Overall, movie rests on an interesting concept and strong performances but suffers from excessive violence and usage of cuss words. As a debutant director, Aasmaan Bharadwaj proves his mettle by juggling an overstuffed plot and a bunch of talented actors. It isn’t exactly a deep, dark satire made to perfection, yet it is a wildly entertaining mishmash of guns, goons and gaalis. My view on this movie Recommended.
