Moon Knight Finale Episode Review: Exceptional performance and story to finish the first season and teases for something better
Moon Knight Finale Episode Web Series Rating: 3.5 Stars

Just watched Moon Knight web series 6th and final episode in Hindi on Disney Plus Hotstar. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast: Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy, Antonia Salib, Fernanda Andrade and Ethan Hawke
Director: Mohamed Diab
Release Date: 4th May 2022 6th Episode (Disney Plus Hotstar)
Duration: 6 Episodes/ 40 Minutes

Story: Episode 5 ended with Steven (Oscar Isaac) left to the sands of the afterlife. Marc (Oscar Isaac) is left alone without his emotional support in the field of reeds. Meanwhile, Harrow (Ethan Hawke) has found his way to Ammit’s statue and Layla is hoping to stop him alone.

Layla (May Calamawy) receives a message from Taweret, telling her to find and release Khonshu so he can revive Spector. Harrow uses Ammit’s power to slaughter the other Egyptian gods’ avatars before releasing Ammit, who chooses him to be her new avatar, while Layla finds Khonshu’s ushabti and releases him. Layla refuses to become Khonshu’s new avatar, so he confronts Ammit (Sofia Danu) alone but is overpowered.

After the emotionally hefty conclusion, Marc decides to leave the field of reeds, his well earned peace for Steven Grant and brings him back from the Duat. With Taweret (Antonia Salib) help, they escape through the Gates of Osiris and awaken back in their body. Khonshu senses their return and bonds with them again, healing their body and restoring their powers As they reunite, Marc and Steven are brought back to the living world right in time.

Layla discovers that Ammit can be defeated if several gods’ avatars bind her into a mortal body, so she temporarily bonds with Taweret. Harrow, Ammit, and their followers begin judging everyone in Cairo, until Spector, Grant, Layla and Khonshu arrive to engage them in battle. Harrow overpowers Spector and Grant, and almost kills them until they both black out and reawaken to find that they have somehow brutally defeated him. Spector and Layla are able to seal Ammit into Harrow’s body, imprisoning her again.

Khonshu urges Spector to execute Harrow and Ammit, but Spector refuses and orders Khonshu to release him and Grant from their service. Spector and Grant find themselves in the imaginary asylum again, but reject it and choose to continue their new life together. In a post-credit scene, a crippled Harrow is abducted from a psychiatric hospital and executed by Jake Lockley, Spector and Grant’s third alter, who is still bonded with Khonshu.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch on premiere day because it is presented by Marvel and always liked superhero films.

Oscar Isaac in the final episode gives a new perspective, as both his characters are finally in sync with each other. The emotional scenes though short are impactful, thanks to his acting, which gives him plenty to do during the action scenes even with the suit’s on. Layla, Harrow and Marc’s fight comes to a personal conclusion, yet again hinting at the third personality in his mind, Jake Lockley. Jake Lockley finally makes an appearance in the post-credit scene raising hopes for the return of Moon Knight in one way or another. The scene also wraps up the season clean, making sure something bigger and better will happen in the follow-up project.

Although this episode invariably turns into a typical CGI-filled action-packed finale, It still manages to pull a few tricks from up its sleeve in its last moments, including a mid-credit sequence. It delivers unforeseen surprises, even if they come at the slight cost of tonality and pacing. Despite addressing previous questions and storylines, the relatively shorter finale feels rushed when additional elements are brought into play. It is presently unknown whether they will be taken up in another season or in a feature film. The latter is especially fun to watch as she makes a powerful mark in her superhero avatar.

While consistently setting itself apart from any other MCU project by telling a self-contained yet immersive story, ‘Moon Knight’ has delivered two formidable heroes who will undoubtedly contribute to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or perhaps, Multiverse). Its atypical storytelling (by MCU’s standards) and exceptional performances easily push the web-series. Overall, Moon Knight focused too much on teasing something better and treated the mini-series as an introduction to the world where gods and humans interact. The show is exciting nonetheless. My View on this web-series Recommended.
