45th Game (Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals)
Game Date: 25th Oct 2020
Details:
Mumbai Indians stand-in captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to bat first in the 45th game of IPL 2020. MI included Quinton De Cock, James pattinson, Trent Boult and Kieron Pollard as four foreign players for this game. One changes in playing XI as they have included James Pattinson in place of injured Nathan Coulter-Nile. Pollard is captain of MI today in absence of Rohit Sharma.

Four foreign players of RR for this game was Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Steve Smith and Jos Buttler. No change their team for today’s game.

Mumbai Indians scores 195/5 in their 20 overs which is a enormous total on this ground. QDK smashed a cracking six against Jofra in the first over, but he was sent back to the pavilion on the very next ball. Kishan struggled to get going, but Suryakumar played a fluent knock of 40 that laid the foundation in the first half of the innings. Mumbai did lose wickets in a flurry in the middle overs, but the partnership between Tiwary and Hardik helped Mumbai get their innings back on track. They scored 74 runs in their last 4 overs due to Pandya’s belligerent unbeaten knock. Hardik Pandaya scored 60* of 21 balls and Suryakumar Yadav scored 40 of 26 balls. For RR Archer and Gopal picks 2 wickets each.

Rajasthan Royals successful thrilling run-chase. They have made a mockery of MI’s bowling. Uthappa began the show, but was dismissed early, Stokes launched into Boult with four fours in his second over and that set-up the chase. No one was spared, even though Smith fell cheaply, there was Samson who was there to give support. It was a stunning counter-punch – everything that MI threw was responded in glorious fashion. The left-handed Stokes led the assault and Samson followed suit. 107 for 2 after 12 overs soon became 172 for 2 after 16 – such was the ferociousness of this chase. Ben Stokes scored 107* runs 60 balls and Sanju Samson scored 54* in 31 balls. For MI Pattinson picks 2 wickets for 40 runs in 3.2 overs.

Man of the Match: Ben Stokes

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : Congratulations to RR for their much needed win. With this win they have officially eliminated CSK from this season and keep their chances alive for this season. After giving away flurry of runs in death overs and 2 early wickets in run chase superb batting by Stokes and Samson ensured no any drama happens at the end. Tomorrow is important game between KXIP and KKR and the two leaders of the chasing pack will go head-to-head. The Royals will surely root for KXIP to come up trumps for their chances.

MI batted brilliantly in first 10 overs and finished with enormous total on this ground due to Pandya‘s belligerent unbeaten knock at the end. MI bowlers started off well and picks 2 early wickets but after that not able to break the unbeaten partnership. Pitch seems better in 2nd half but still RR was chasing a big total but mediocre bowling performance was the reason of their loss today. Although this game will not impact on their chances for play-offs but they need to win next game to boost up their confidence.
