Team India scored 191/5 in their 20 overs after batting first. A challenging total by the visitors on a slightly two-paced surface. Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav set off on a hurry but both were dismissed inside the batting powerplay. As has been the case, India kept batting with freedom, there were some eye-catching shots played by Hooda and Pant, before Samson and Axar provided the finishing touches. West Indies were a mix with the ball Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein and Dominic Drakes were brilliant, the latter in particular during the death overs while Obed McCoy was taken for plenty, his 2 for 66 becoming the worst-ever bowling figures by a West Indian in T20Is. This is a traditionally high-scoring ground, but the hosts haven’t been on song with the bat in this series and they could be worried by Brandon King’s injury. Rishabh Pant scored 44 runs of 31 balls and skipper Rohit Sharma scored 33 runs of 16 balls. For West Indies, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy picks 2 wickets each.

West Indies unable to chase the target and bowled out for 132 runs in 19.1 overs and lost the game by 59 runs. Quite the no contest this. There was a point in the chase when Nicholas Pooran went nuts in the powerplay, going after Axar Patel to smack him for three sixes and a four in an over. It was game on. The pitch wasn’t tough, the boundaries were small, and he was in the mood. Alas, in a quest for a needless single, he was sold down the river just as needlessly. And what a shame that was. The rest of the West Indian innings just collapsed after that. Nobody got going, and India’s seamers Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh were too hot to handle. Arshdeep, in particular, with his left-arm angle and his reversing yorkers, has given India another dimension, and another headache to deal with when Bumrah and Harshal return. West Indies have bigger headaches. They are still to find a template to play T20s. Skipper Nicholas Pooran scored 24 of 8 balls and Rovman Powell also scored 24 runs of 16 balls. For Team India, Arshdeep Singh pick 3 wickets for just 12 runs in his 3.1 overs.
