Udaan Movie Review: Captain G.R Gopinath extraordinary journey that every Indian should know

Just watched Udaan movie on Amazon Prime Video. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Story: Movie is based on Captain GR Gopinath‘s Simply Fly and ‘stories from the aviation industry’,Soorarai Pottru which is released as Udaan in Hindi is an inspiring tale about a common man who dreamt big.
Nedumaaran aka Maaran (Suriya) is a former Indian Air Force captain who dreams of starting a low-cost carrier airline. He is the son of a school teacher (Poo Ramu) in a Madurai village, who decides to start a low cost airline that can be aspirational for even the less privileged because due to money he unable to reach home when his father was dying.
But with his inspiration, Paresh Goswami (Paresh Rawal) a leader in the aviation industry, trying his best to ensure that this dream doesn’t take off and wants to prevent coolies and beggars from stepping into his airline, keeps snapping at his heels. A corrupt, complicit babu (Vivek Prasanna) in the Ministry of Civil Aviation keeps finding rules to stop him. And the lack of funds is a continual struggle.
What keeps Maaran going is the love of a good woman his wife Bommi (Aparna Balamurali) and the belief of countless people from his village led by his mother (Urvashi) and his conviction that he can do it. ill Maaran be able to reach for the sky and not fall down?

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : > When I watched the trailer planned to watch this movie because it inspired from true story from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath.
At a time when flying was mostly restricted to the upper class and those with deep pockets, Maaran nurtured the dream of making flying a reality for everyone and his struggle to fulfil his dream is story of this film. Right from the start the film shows us how the nexus between capitalists and bureaucrats has been instrumental in crushing anyone who dares to dream big, after a point, the hurdles that Maaran has to cross begin to feel repetitive, making the film seem a bit overlong. But the closing visuals of the joy on the faces of the common folk who take the flight on Maaran’s aircraft ensure a smooth touchdown.
Apart from his journey loved the angle romantic angle. They are both individuals who are crazy about their high-flying dreams. Bommi’s dream of running a bakery might seem small compared to Maaran’s at first glance, but Sudha Kongara keeps underling the fact that she is also breaking the glass ceiling in her own way. Overall it’s a tribute to captain and his extraordinary journey that every Indian should watch. My View on this movie Highly recommended!!
