Shershaah Movie Rating: 4 Stars

Just watched Shershaah movie on Amazon Prime Video. So let’s focus on the cast, release date story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Anil charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Nikitin Dheer and Shataf Figar
Director: Vishnu Varadhan
Release Date: 12th August 2021 on Amazon Prime Video

Story: Movie is the biopic of Indian war hero Captain Vikram Batra who valiantly fought the Kargil War in 1999 and successfully defeated the Pakistanis. Vikram Batra (Sidharth Malhotra) stays with his parents in Palampur, Himachal and his twin brother and two sisters. Since the time he was a child, he was interested in joining the army.

At college he meets Dimple (Kiara Advani) and falls for her. She reciprocates his love and both start a relationship. At this point, Vikram decides to join the merchant navy instead of the army as it pays better because Dimple father (Bijay J Anand) wanted to marry his daughter who earn more than him. Meanwhile, Vikram starts getting second thoughts after his best friend Sunny (Sahil Vaid) insists that he should not give up his dream of joining the army and then he joins Army.

In 1998, he gets his first posting at 13th Jammu and Kashmir Rifles at Sopore. Vikram is now a Lieutenant. His regiment comprises Lieutenant Sanjeev Jamwal (Shiv Panditt), Naib Sudebar Bansi Lal Sharma (Anil Charanjeett), Subedar Raghunath (Raj Arjun), Major Subrata Mukherjee (Abhiroy Singh) and Major Ajay Jasrotia aka Jassi (Nikitin Dheer) etc. In no time, Vikram proves his worth when he manages to capture a dreaded terrorist Attaullah (David Browne) who is a part of the gang of an evil militant, Haider (Mir Sarwar) and impressed his seniors with this daredevilry.

Before the war between India and Pakistan started in 1999, Vikram had gone home to meet his family. He had also met Dimple and had secretly married her in the Gurudwara. Promising to return soon and marry according to Hindu rites, Vikram had left for the war. In this war his code name was Shershaah and mission was to capture Point 4875 at Kargil. After successfully capturing Point 5140. It may be mentioned here that reaching Point 4875 was an almost impossible task but the Indian army brave hearts not only accomplished that but also defeated the Pakistanis in no time. It is in this war that he became a martyr but only after attaining victory. He was decorated with the highest military honour, the Param Vir Chakra, for his valour.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When movie was announced planned to watch this film on its release date due to real life incident on PVC Awardee and Kargil hero Late Captain Vikram Batra.

is the true story of a PVC awardee brave Indian soldier Capt. Vikram Batra, his courage remains eternal and his memory indelible in the Indian psyche. His contributions count as blessings in India’s win over the enemy in the Kargil War of 1999.

story of this film is well-researched and very interesting but still some more incidents of Vikram could have been added especially in the first half. Apart from this movie direction, cinematography even music is excellent. The end credits last for almost 11 minutes as the makers list out the names, photographs of the soldiers in Vikram Batra’s regiment and the accolades won by them. It’s a lovely gesture and apt for a film that beautifully pays an ode to the greatness of the Indian Army.

On the whole, Shershaah is perfect tribute to our brave Kargil Hero. It is a well-made war saga that is sure to make your heart swell with pride and your eyes moist. Movie would have been a huge box office hit had it been released in cinemas. It releases just around Independence Day and hence, it’s sure to get very good viewership. My view on this movie Highly Recommended !!
