New Zealand bowled out for 273 runs in their 50 overs after batting first. From being 243 for 4 to 273 all-out. NZ would be a little disappointed. The innings was headlined by one substantial partnership. 159 runs were added for the third wicket by Ravindra and Mitchell. Barring that no one else really got going for NZ. India started off superbly by removing the openers early. Bumrah and Siraj were on the money. But then Jadeja dropped Ravindra and he made India pay with some neat batting against spin and pace. Mitchell was NZ’s mitochondria. He went on and scored a superb 130. For India, Shami was brought in and picked up a fifer. Bumrah and Siraj also kept it tight. The middle overs did go for a few as the spinners were taken on by the pair of Ravindra and Mitchell. From 19 for 2 to 178 for 3 to 273 all-out. This innings went through varied phases. India did help the visitors as well as they dropped a few catches. Will that come back to haunt them? The wicket is playing good for the batters but the slower balls are gripping. Not much turn on it. But 274 wouldn’t be an easy score as I feel this is a par score. Daryl Mitchell scored 130 runs of 127 balls and Rachin Ravindra scored 75 runs of 87 balls. For Team India, Mohammed Shami picked 5 wickets for 54 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Team India chased down the target by scoring 274/6 runs in 48 overs and won the game by 4 wickets. Throw verbal stones at the man and he will convert them into milestones. Century number 49 couldn’t be accomplished but India thanks to another fantastic knock from Kohli have chased down 274. They were tested by a side which was at the top of the table coming into this. But India have answered them back with a successful chase. Fifth successful run chase for India as well. Rohit, Gill, Iyer, Rahul all got starts but none converted them into anything substantial. Kohli dropped anchor and kept steering India to their target. He just never had to take the extra risk and played out his plan to the tee. SKY had to bear the brunt of some poor calling and was unfortunately run-out. But Kohli carried on unfazed. Jadeja came in and he played the perfect second fiddle to Kohli. Scored a few timely boundaries and took his team home. There were question marks on his batting but Jadeja has been in great form throughout this WC with almost everything now. He dropped a crucial catch but has made up for that tonight with his timely knock. Virat Kohli scored 95 of 97 balls and skipper Rohit Sharma scored 46 runs of 40 balls. For New Zealand, Lockie Ferguson picked 2 wickets for 66 runs in his 8 overs.
