Cast: Vineet Kumar Singh, Vikram Kochhar and Girija Oak
Director: Pratish Mehta
Release Date: 6th March 2026 on Netflix
Duration: 5 Episodes/ 40 Minutes

Story: Series revolves around Alakh Pandey (Vineet Kumar Singh) who is an idealistic and charismatic physics teacher from Prayagraj, who is disillusioned by the profit-driven motives of established coaching institutes. Coming from a modest humble background, he dreams of making quality education accessible to students who cannot afford expensive coaching institutes. He believes that education should never become a luxury. He understands the struggles of students who cannot afford expensive coaching institutes.

His journey begins with a simple idea. Instead of limiting his teaching to classrooms, he starts uploading physics lectures online. What begins as a small initiative gradually grows into a widely followed platform that helps students across India prepare for competitive exams. One of the early episodes introduces two children living below the poverty line who stumble upon Alakh’s online lectures. For them, education becomes the only possible path out of poverty. The story highlights how access to affordable learning resources can change lives in unexpected ways.

The narrative runs on two parallel tracks: Alakh’s corporate journey as he navigates the cutthroat world of venture capital and competition to build a unicorn company, and the deeply personal stories of several students, from rural Bihar to the slums of Mumbai, whose lives are transformed by his accessible lessons.

Running parallel to these stories is Alakh Pandey’s own journey as he expands his education platform and tries to keep his mission intact. The narrative attempts to show how a teacher’s influence can ripple through countless lives. As his popularity grows, Pandey faces new challenges, including financial pressure, business decisions, and the responsibility of shaping young minds. Through the journey, the series also introduces different students whose lives are influenced by his teaching. It unfolds across five episodes, each focusing on different student stories shaped by Alakh’s teachings. These narratives attempt to reflect the diverse realities of India’s education system.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer planned to watch this series on premiere day as trailers looks excellent and inspired by real life events. Also, I am a big fan of TVF creations. The series follows the life of Alakh Pandey, a charismatic physics teacher who rejects traditional coaching institute models to provide affordable education through YouTube.

Hello Bachhon is a biographical drama inspired by the life of Alakh Pandey, popularly known as ‘Physics Wallah’. Spread across five episodes, the series traces the journey of a small-town physics teacher who challenges India’s costly, exam-centric coaching industry to build an affordable learning revolution. The show focuses on the emotional and logistical hurdles of transforming a modest classroom initiative into a nationwide educational movement. At its heart lies not just a success story, but a commentary on the inequities embedded in India’s competitive exam culture. The narrative highlights the financial strain on families, the crushing pressure on students, and the moral dilemma of balancing commerce with conscience. Where series succeeds most is in its depiction of students from marginalised backgrounds. A young girl from Haryana fighting familial pressure to marry instead of study, and construction workers juggling labour with late-night classes, lend the series its most affecting passages. These stories underline the transformative power of accessible education and reinforce the show’s emotional core. One of the most engaging aspects of series is the student narratives woven into the main story. Each episode highlights the personal battles students face while pursuing education. These stories address themes such as social pressure, addiction, and financial hardship. They remind viewers that behind every exam result lies a complex personal journey. In one of the scenes, a student-child of a daily wage worker says, “Jab ek aadmi gareebi ke kuyein se nikalta hai to apne saath 5 logon ko leke nikalta hai lekin usse pehle un paanch logon ko use upar dhakelna padta hai.” Alakh Pandey turns that man who pulls them out of the pitholes. A story that definitely deserves to be celebrated!

Vineet Kumar Singh shoulders the series as Alakh Pandey with sincerity and restraint. His performance lends authenticity to moments that might otherwise slip into melodrama. Whether negotiating rent for a cramped classroom or addressing disillusioned students, Singh ensures the character remains relatable and human. He captures the simplicity, enthusiasm, and dedication of a passionate teacher without turning the character into a dramatic hero. The supporting cast adds warmth to the narrative. Girija Oak Godbole, as Alakh’s elder sister, provides emotional ballast, portraying quiet resilience and familial faith. Vikram Kochhar as Prateek, friend and collaborator, brings levity and loyalty, embodying the often-unsung partners behind entrepreneurial dreams. Together, they flesh out the ecosystem that supports Alakh’s vision. Director Pratish Mehta adopts a grounded storytelling approach that avoids excessive melodrama. The show maintains a simple tone, focusing on emotions and relationships rather than flashy storytelling.

However, the series is not without its shortcomings. While it faithfully captures the spirit of its protagonist, it often treads a predictable path typical of underdog biopics especially since OTT series Physics Wallah has already chronicled Alakh’s journey in detail. For viewers familiar with that show, series offers little that feels new or revelatory. The narrative unfolds in a largely linear fashion, prioritizing emotional upliftment over a deeper, more layered examination of the systemic complexities and contradictions within India’s fiercely competitive education ecosystem. The series occasionally falls into the sainthood trap more than once. It treats Alakh Pandey as a flawless figure, missing out on the nuances of the business-side struggles or the internal conflicts of scaling a startup. The pacing in the middle episodes slows down, and some supporting characters feel like mere cardboard cutouts designed to make the protagonist look better. The series also simplifies certain real-life complexities to fit the narrative. This makes parts of the story feel slightly promotional rather than deeply analytical. The idea of a teacher inspiring students is powerful, but the storytelling rarely allows the characters to feel fully human. Another issue lies in the familiarity of the themes. OTT platforms have already explored the pressures of India’s competitive exam culture in several shows. While this one touches upon similar struggles, it does not bring enough new perspective to the table.

Overall, series remains an earnest and engaging watch. It is a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of Indian students and the fraternity of teachers who are the least celebrated in this country. It’s for everyone who has ever sat in a dark room, wondering if they’ll succeed in life professionally. It may not break new ground within TVF’s now-familiar education genre, but its emotional sincerity and Vineet Kumar Singh’s committed performance make it worthwhile. Despite its flaws and its clear agenda to boost the PW brand, the performances and the emotional high notes make it a must-watch. My view on this web-series Highly Recommended.
