Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on its release date as loved the trailer and big fan of Hrithik Roshan and director Siddharth Anand action movies.

The first film in a planned aerial action franchise revolves around Top Indian Air Force aviators who comes together in the face of imminent danger, to form Air Dragons. It unfolds their camaraderie, brotherhood and battles, internal and external.

Fighter story may be not Nobel and predictable but there’s the right dose of nationalism, swelling your heart with pride for the IAF pilots who put their lives at stake to protect the country. Raising the bar high with high-octane and jaw-dropping fight sequences, the drama takes place mid-air and there’s no scope left for any sort of distraction. It also highlights the lives of Air Force pilots beyond the airstrip and encapsulates the sentiments of friendship, bonding, love, loss and achievement in the purest and unfiltered form. Through Minal’s character, the film sends a strong message of women empowerment and breaks societal shackles. This aerial action drama is brilliantly crafted; visually and dramatically. The background score elevates the narration and blends well with the emotional and patriotic core. Siddharth Anand has a strong command over the action genre and this movie is yet another successful testament. He feels the audience’s pulse and serves them exactly what they desire to watch on the big screen. Hrithik Roshan delivers one of his best performances as he breathes life into Patty and fills his heart with compassion, passion and confidence. Supporting cast has been excellent. It is a technically rich film with stunning and creative aerial sequences. The VFX team pushes boundaries and gives Indian cinema a rare yet unmissable ride. It cannot be missed for the efforts taken by the entire team in delivering something so unique and brave. It’s a family entertainer that will be fresh and relevant for several years.

On flipside, in terms of plot, movie doesn’t offer anything new, and everything is predictable about it. It is another film from Hindi cinema which is about India taking revenge against Pakistan. Another weak link in the film is its pace in the second half which almost nosedives before it gets elevated during the climax. The songs and background score of Fighter are a letdown. Except for the Vandemataram track, the background score isn’t great. Had this aspect been better, the impact could have gone a few notches higher. There’s very little action in the first half of the post-interval portion. Also, the film gets a bit lengthy at this point. Moreover, the product placement is quite in the face. Lastly, the villain track is not convincing and is very over the top.

Overall, watch this movie to see the Indian Air Force in a whole new light. The film will make you proud, nudge your emotions towards your nation and leave you thoroughly entertained with its grandiose and brilliantly shot air combat scenes. Despite its shortcomings, Fighter remains slick and smart and keeps the audience engaged and absorbed. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
