In the 1st season While investigating a gory copy-cat killing that follows the modus operandi of a 17-year-old serial killing case, a Mumbai crime branch officer re-opens the spine-chilling case that had rocked a small coastal town near Mumbai, only to find out that there was an accomplice who was never nabbed. To her horror, that partner in crime could be her life partner, the doting father of her six-year-old daughter, her perfect husband of 11 years.
Season 2 begins from where 1st season ended. Six months has been passed and Ira Patel (Drashti Dhami) is making peace with reality and is coming to terms with her husband Abhishek Banne’s (Gulshan Devaiah) actions and identity.

Everyone assumes Bala Banne’s son could be the accomplice. What is the role of Sammit Patel in this investigation? Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer planned to watch this series on premiere day because loved the trailer and also liked the 11st season of this series.
Season 2 picks up where the first season left off, with Sammit Patel waking up from a coma and setting out to regain his identity from Abhishek Bane, who has been living under his name. Simultaneously, Abhishek searches for his father’s accomplice and confronts Sammit in a fierce battle of wits. The heart of this season lies in whether the truth behind their identities and past will be revealed.
To begin with, if you haven’t watched the first season of Duranga, it’s completely fine. You can still watch season two. Yes, you may take a little time to understand some of the references in the initial episode, but the makers have made sure that the new season is a comfortable watch even to those who have not watched the part one. Even though there aren’t a lot of twists and turns in the initial episodes, the plot is gripping. It is not a regular psychological thriller and offers something new to the audience. The connection between Gulshan Devaiah and Amit Sadh’s characters is also very interesting. It keeps you hooked to your seats throughout and makes you wonder what will happen next. This season delves deeper into Sammit’s past, showcasing the connection between a young Sammit and Bala Banne is well-developed. The cat-and-mouse chase unfolds methodically, capturing the darkness and devious nature of a sociopathic serial killer. Its strong point lies in its performances. Every actor offers an earnest performance, which makes the series more watchable.
On the flipside, despite all of the buildup, the finale is somewhat rushed and underwhelming. Story is very predictable as we get to know the accomplice from very first episode, and its take 7 more episodes to conclude it. The initial episodes successfully sustain the tension from the previous season, where secrets seem poised to surface at any moment. However, director Rohan Sippy fails to maintain this level of energy throughout the subsequent episodes. The plot’s resolution in the final two episodes appears rushed and could benefit from more careful development. The reason behind the hatred is neither mentioned nor explored. Bala Banne’s motive was a convenient plot point, and expanding on that would have made the narrative simple and conclusive.
Overall, series is a good extension of the first season despite its obvious flaws. Don’t expect too much as nowhere to the 1st season but still a decent thriller which has its moments. My view on this web-series Recommended if you liked the 1st season.
