Team India scored 137/9 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. From 48/5, India have recovered well to finish on 137. Jaiswal fell to Theekshana after hitting a couple of boundaries. Captain Suryakumar Yadav perished for 8 while trying to play his favourite. In between those two big wickets, India lost Samson and Rinku for 0 & 1 respectively. Inserted to bat, the visitors were reduced to 30/4 in the powerplay. Dube too couldn’t make a major contribution and that’s when Gill and Parag stitched a fifty partnership. Just when they started to up the ante, both of them were dismissed by Hasaranga in the same over. Washington Sundar played a little cameo towards the end to take India’s total close to 140. For Sri Lanka, debutant Wickramasinghe, who kickstarted the proceedings, bowled his quota of four overs in one spell to finish with impressive figures of 4-0-17-1. Pathirana left the field at the end of the seventh over holding his right shoulder after making a diving stop and he couldn’t bowl today. So, Sri Lanka employed 14 overs to spin on a track that has a lot of assistance for the tweakers. This could be a tricky chase for the hosts as India have a lot of bowling options. Shubman Gill scored 39 runs of 37 balls and Riyan Parag scored 26 runs of 18 balls. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana picked 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Sri Lanka collapse for the third time in as many matches but they have managed to avoid a defeat for the time being. They needed 30 runs off the last 30 balls with nine wickets in hand and they stuttered again. The new era under SKY & Gambhir is underway with a 3-0 series win. With the series already sealed, India made four changes to their XI for this match. Inserted to bat, they were reduced to 30/4 in the powerplay which later became 48/5. Gill and Parag forged a fifty partnership and then Washington Sundar played a crucial knock to take India’s total to 137 – a competitive total on a spinning track. In reply, Sri Lanka got off to a cautious start with the openers scoring 35 runs off the powerplay. They slowly upped the ante and stitched a fifty partnership. Nissanka fell to Bishnoi but there was another half-century partnership. Sri Lanka were cruising with the two Kusals out in the middle looking in good touch. It was Sri Lanka’s match to lose, and they found a way to lose it. Bishnoi removed Mendis in his final over, Sundar picked two more off his fourth over. But when Khaleel bowled a lot of Wides in the 18th over, most of us thought that the match was out of India’s reach. Just 9 runs were needed off the last two overs. Sri Lanka made a mess of it against Rinku Singh and SKY! The Super Over was done and dusted quickly. Sundar nipped out Perera and Nissanka for ducks and then SKY wrapped it up in one ball. Crazy game of cricket. Kusal Perera scored 46 of 34 balls and Kusal Mendis scored 43 runs of 41 balls. For Team India, Sundar, Bishnoi, SKY & Rinku Singh picked 2 wickets each.
