Wonder cement ODI Series 2024: Sri Lanka ends India’s sequence of 11 consecutive bilateral series in ODIs. They won the 2nd ODI by 32 runs and lead the series 1-0 with 1 more ODI to go at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

2nd ODI (India Vs Sri Lanka)
Game Date: 4th August 2024
Details:
Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka again won the toss and elected to bat first in the 2nd game against Team India at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. No change in Team India playing XI.

Sri Lanka scored 240/9 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. 230 in the first game, 240 today. Sri Lanka have done well to get there despite being 136/6. It was again down to Wellalage lower down the order and he found an able partner in Kamindu. Sri Lanka’s ploy to lengthen their batting has worked well. But Siraj rocked them early by getting Nissanka first ball of the game. Avishka and Mendis recovered well with a 74-run second wicket stand but Washi, Axar and Kuldeep spread a nice web to take the next 5 wickets for 62 runs. It was then that Wellalage and Kamindu came together for a 72-run stand. Dananjaya made a crucial 15 too as India struggled to take wickets at the end. 240 is a very competitive score. Sri Lanka have just one frontline pacer in their ranks today. Liyanage could be used as second seamer, but they are going to bombard India with spin. Pitch is a bit tricky with ball stopping and turning and this won’t be an easy chase. Kamindu Mendis scored 67* runs of 65 balls and Avishka Fernando scored 40 runs of 62 balls. For Team India, Washington Sundar picked 3 wickets for 30 runs in his 10 overs.

Team India unable to chase the target and bowled out for 208 runs in 42.2 overs. Lots of similarities to the previous match, but we have a clear winner tonight. Opting to bat, they were in a precarious situation at 136/6, but once again Dunith Wellalage and the lower order bailed them out of trouble to post a challenging total. In reply, captain Rohit got off the blocks quickly and notched up his second fifty of the series and once inside the first powerplay as India raced away to 76/0. Rohit attempted a reverse-sweep against Vandersay and perished, thanks to a superb catch from Nissanka. After that, India crumbled against the leggie who replaced an injured Hasaranga. He spun a web around the Indian batters and accounted for the first six wickets as the visitors slipped from 97/0 to 147/6. It was an incredible spell from the wristspinner. With Vandersay out of the attack, Axar and Washington Sundar started to build a partnership. Asalanka removed both the all-rounders in quick succession and those were the killer blows from the Sri Lankan captain. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 64 of 44 balls and Axar Patel scored 44 runs of 44 balls. For Team India, Jeffrey Vandersay picked 6 wickets for 33 runs in his 10 overs quota.

SL: 240/9 in 50 overs
